How can I be consistent when I'm parenting under pressure and I've got to get out the door? How can I help my children change their hearts and not just their behavior? What can I do about the lingering tension we face in our family after times of discipline? These are great questions that linger in the thoughts of parents and that are answered by Home Improvement. The authors, founders of the National Center for Biblical Parenting, give special attention to anger management in children, how to develop rules that teach life lessons, and even provide a strategy for tailoring a character development plan specifically for your own unique and special child. You'll want to read this book over and over again as your children continue to grow and develop. It's packed with illustrations and applications for children of all ages.

This book is a great example of don’t judge a book by its cover… 😅
As a pediatric OT, children’s ministry volunteer, and friend of many amazing parents, I spend a lot of time partnering with parents and caregivers. So, I am always looking for great resources to help empower and equip parents and caregivers to disciple children well and to help me in my own work and ministry (especially since I’m not a parent yet, so don’t have my own parenting advice to give).
All that to say, this the best parenting book I have read so far. I am sure this won’t be the last time I read it and is the first of many times I will recommend it.
I really do only wish they would update the cover!
I love this book! It is especially geared to parents who have younger children, but parents with kids at all ages would also benefit from these practical ideas. Teach your kids out to listen and obey right away and much more. I recommend this book often to my friends.
These are my fave authors for parenting and I always am so encouraged inspired and challenged in their books. So thankful for the wisdom they pass on to young mothers like me !
A good one. I especially like the emphasis on positive parenting- encouragement and training vs. focus on discipline. Teaching character qualities even to toddlers, great practical ideas- Just part of the reason I think this is a good parenting book to add to your shelves.
So far, interesting and practical tips for dealing with disobedience in children. I only made it part of the way through, the stories are a little annoying, but the tips make sense and are useful.
