Had this book on my tbr shelf for 8 years, every once in a while looking at it from the side of my eye - with guilt and forbidden desire. Who possibly needs these huge, sweet, crunchy masses of delight? These treats would add unneeded calories, increase sweet tolerance, and probably make me mad. Finally found a recipe with organic brown rice crisps, peanut butter, butter, nuts, unsweetened dried fruit and substituted (sorry) mini marshmallows for maple syrup. What a gooey mess, I cut the tray up and wrapped each in a waxed paper sleeve. Delicious.
So, guilt sort of assuaged, I read Kellogg's Rice Krispies Treats Cookbook last night. The same recipe (rice crispies, marshmallows, butter) was repeated endlessly with variant cuts and toppings. What a disappointment.
I'll be good now for at least another ten years. Ha!
