Good Night Oregon explores Haystack Rock, tidal pools and sea life, Washington Park, Crater Lake, whitewater rafting, Cascade Mountains, wildlife, Smith Rock State Park, USS Blueback submarine, Pendleton Round-up, Columbia River Gorge, Oregon Coast Aquarium, Oregon Zoo, and more. This charming and informative board book tours young readers around the great state of Oregon, including some of the state's most treasured landmarks and attractions.
This book is part of the bestselling Good Night Our World series, which includes hundreds of titles exploring iconic locations and exciting, child-friendly themes.
Many of North America’s most beloved regions are artfully celebrated in these board books designed to soothe children before bedtime while instilling an early appreciation for North America's natural and cultural wonders. Each book stars a multicultural group of people visiting the featured area’s attractions as rhythmic language guides children through the passage of both a single day and the four seasons while saluting the iconic aspects of each place.
A lovely reminder of my time in Oregon and great to read to my daughter at bedtime. Hopefully will inspire her to travel to this amazing place one day....
Very nice illustrations that are colorful and clean. This is a good one for small children just before bed time. The book begins by greeting Oregon landmarks "good morning" and continues throughout the day to wish more of Oregon's natural features and attractions "good night." It kind of helps the kids get acquainted with their own state.
I read this really quickly at work. We sold it on our Amazon store to a customer. It's the kind of book to be read aloud to a very young child. It may also be a good book for a child just learning how to read.
Emmett has only recently received Good Night Oregon from his grandma, so I haven’t read it too many times. However, I really enjoyed this one because I was very familiar with almost everything in it. This is probably my favorite state book that I have read so far because of how accurate everything in the book was. I’m glad that the authors included such well-known places because my son will enjoy visiting/revisiting them as he gets older. My favorite page in the book is the page naming all the Cascade mountains in Oregon. I think this is a brilliant idea, and will help my son learn the different mountains.
My son is 6 now and you would think he would be too old for these board books, but he still enjoys them. I got this one for him (and his 3-year-old sister) when I visited the Oregon coast last summer, and he likes reading it with me and talking about the things I saw when I was on the trip. There is something that is just nice and soothing about reading these, and it definitely inspires wanderlust in the kids, which is a plus!
This book is a great introduction to children who are learning how to read. This book would be in the age appropriate to primary children I would say kindergarten and first graders. Good Night Oregon is also a great book to have read on the first day of class and talk to your students of what they did during the summer, places that they have traveled. Great way to introduce them into basic map concepts.
I like these books for places I've lived, and as an Oregon native this was fun for ME, but not as fun for my kids. I recommend sticking with the book for your own state.
As a gift from my Californian friends! Didn’t love that it rhymed on one or two pages but not consistently; think I wanted/expected it to be more like a parody of Goodnight Moon but Oregon themed
My 11 month old baby loves this book. It has very bright and modern pictures. I just wish it had more pages! She just can't get enough of it! I'm pretty sure she'll still like it when she's older and learning to read. I Recommend it!
I read this book over and over with both of my boys. It's a wonderful mixture of the beloved book Good Night, Moon and the familiar places of Oregon. My boys love reading the book saying, "I've been there!"
