I was looking for a biography of Pelosi, but wanted something more about her political career. Boy I got more than that. More than you ever need to know about not just her but the political environment she stepped into.

‘Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the New American Politics’ was more than I expected in a biography. Ronald M Peters, Jr. puts her in historical perspective with her peers as Speaker, and gives statistical information on her actions, successes and failures in that position. I want to highlight that the chapter titled Gender is a bonus, as it not only describes the environment that she worked through, but gives a historical recount of what other women as Representatives in Congress experienced. I was so impressed with this book, that I purchased his previous book ‘The American Speakership: The Office in Historical Perspective’.
