Caged is Book One in the Defiant Kings Interconnected Standalone Series. So, Bella is giving us more Kingston goodness. Her series books can be read independently of one another, but this codependent family, or gremlins as Maddie would refer to them, is worth the deep dive. Hudson is strong and fierce, but when it comes to Maddie he is gentle and patient. This is a low angst read, both of them have their issues that stem from their childhoods, but ultimately the last three years of flirting around the issues has just been foreplay. With Hudson Maddie feels safe, able to be herself, and let her inhibitions go. The build up in this book hits that sweet spot. With every book my obsession with this family grows. Bella sure knows how to suck a girl in.
Madison runs a social management business by day and teaches yoga by night at Crucible. Giving her loads of access to her crush. Single by choice because Madison has childhood trauma all over her. Orphaned young, Madison and her brother Brandon spent years in the foster system. Despite her life being intertwined with the Kingston’s for years, Madison still feels as if she does not belong.
Hudson “The King” Kingston MMA Champion, total flirt, manwhore and one of Madison's close friends. He comes to her aid one night and is injured in the process just weeks before he is defending his title. Now they find themselves together in Hudson’s home. Madison so she isn’t alone until Brandon returns from London and Hudson so he follows the doctor’s and Cade’s rules.
Now the box Madison has placed Hudson in is very cramped. And, she is the only woman who has tempted Hudson to want more.
What if what they needed was right in front of them the last three years? What if they gave into that sweet temptation that has edged them from the start?
