“From sweet April showers that make our hearts sing, may you feel every blessing of God’s gentle spring.” K is for Kite has to be my favorite of Kathy-jo Wargin’s God’s Seasonal Alphabet books so far. While we love P is for Pumpkin, F is for Fireflies, and S is for Snowman, K is for Kite is the best. The illustrations from Kim Gatto and fun and breezing and perfect for this weather. The verse on each page to accompany each letter is delightful and fun to read. I wouldn’t be opposed to having these be memorized by a preschooler and used as alphabet flashcards.
Going from the color choices on the background of a page to the fun phrases, I love it all and my daughter delights to read it again and again. It is our favorite read this spring for sure.

This is a somewhat unusual book because it can be read at two levels. One withe the text at the top of the pages can be read as a Christian Easter story. However, by reading the text at 5he bottom of the page this is simply an abc picture book about the various creatures will sees in springtime. Copyright in 2010 the illustrations seemed a bit dated, but it could be the style.
Springtime is right time to rejoice in God’s creation and Kathy-jo Wargin and Kim Gatto do so in their collaborative effort entitled K if for Kite. This picture book resonates with all the varied elements found in spring and the portrayed child shows this variety through depicted cheery poetic verse and accompanying illustrations. Young readers can easily appreciate the exuberance felt when spring arrives. From April’s showers to playing marbles to feeling spring’s “zing”, this seasonal alphabet glorifies God’s blessings. Adults and children will enjoy the reminder of how much spring is appreciated.
Wargin’s prose holds throughout the book, with nary an awkward rhyme or forced play upon the theme of spring alphabet. There is a delightful mix of expected and unexpected spring wonders to appreciate through the book. The illustrations are reminiscent of child art and reflect the merry energy that spring can produce. Those looking to introduce or reinforce God’s miraculous season changes will welcome K if for Kite as a reading choice.
Written in rhyme, this book goes through the alphabet and helps children learn about God's world as it relates to springtime. The illustrations are bright, and there is a springtime blessing at the end of the book.
