Every day more and more educators are realizing that chess is a great way to help attention-challenged teens develop a capacity for disciplined thinking. Learn Chess Quick is designed to grab the interest of those students and release their untapped potential—right from page 1. With a little help from the world’s greatest board game and the sidesplitting humor of Gray Jolliffe’s cartoons, hard-to-reach youngsters will painlessly discover the pleasures of mental competition, the importance of focusing on a task, and the values of sportsmanship. They’ll be having fun even before they’ve made their first move!
Illustrations and definitions make this a really easy beginner book to understand the basics of chess. With a few puzzles and end games, it got me back into wanting to play chess again so it succeeds in making the game interesting and intriguing to learn.
This is a great basic chess book - either for people who haven't played at all before, or those (like me) who know how the pieces move, but don't have any idea about strategy.
Really liked it - fun to read and very informative. However, I left it unfinished as I had to return it to the library. As good as it was, I didn't feel like taking it out a second time.
