Marc Guggenheim helms a closer look at Spider-Man's infamous red-herring redhead known as Jackpot in this collection. Introduced under the Brand New Day Banner, the Mary Jane lookalike heroine was designed to make readers wonder if MJ had actually attained superhuman abilities. This volume explores scientist Sara Ehret reclaiming her former mantle after the death of her close friend Alan Jobson. Guilted by Spider-Man into re-accepting her responsibilities, Sara finds herself teaming with the web-slinger to investigate a new drug on the streets. The investigation leads Sara to cross paths with the latest criminal taking the name Rose and a violent assault on her family by the souped-up enforcer Boomerang. The notions of power and responsibility continue to have dire consequences, forcing the naive heroine to decide whether she can live with the results of her heroic career. Despite some engaging visuals from Adriana Melo, the collection only continues to highlight all of the issues with the Brand New Day plotline. A one-note character gets added backstory complications and ruthless familial treatment; the events relayed within these pages almost guarantee that the idea of Jackpot has finally crapped out.

Very average story about a minor character in the Marvel universe. Okay if you want to look at superheroines with big boobs, or if you absolutely must read everything about every character, but otherwise there's no reason to read this. It's not bad, just very, very mediocre, and a perfect example of why I don't generally bother to read superhero comics.
A re-telling of sorts of one of Spider-man's recent ensemble characters. Lots of action and humour typical of the comics, with a resonant tragic event towards the end.
Not bad, nice to read a comic with a female lead who is strong and smart. I would have given more stars but while the lead character Jackpot was interesting the story was routine.
