The lives of Ward and Natasha McCarty have been wrecked by the tragic electrocution death of their young son, Barney. Their personal and professional lives are falling apart. Then, an unhappy teenaged girl, seated next to Ward on an airplane, steals a family heirloom. Meanwhile, someone (the Watcher) is scripting a death for them for reasons unknown. I was not engaged in this book until the last 20-25% and was all set to give it 2 stars, but it had great, surprise ending.

A psychopath stalking a family who is coming to term with the tragic death of their son. What are the connection? The book start of slowly by introducing the various characters and the intricate relationship between them. As the book progress, the pace heated up and I lose sleep trying to finish it. The watcher is not who he is made out as things got twisted up in the finale. A bloodbath awaits. Simply superb.

This author keeps the reader engaged during the whole novel. A couple is grieving the loss of their child of nearly a year ago. What they don't know is someone is watching them and their days are numbered. Is the Watcher someone hired by the grieving husband's competitor or is it some lone nut? Why has the Watcher focused on this couple and why is he out for their blood? You'll have to read the book to find out. You're in not only for one twist but two but you'll never see it coming!

Own in paperback.

FS: "Sitting cross-legged on the cool clay floor, the watcher used the tip of his survival knife to carve another letter into the wall of his hide."

LS: "They melted into the wide line of people filing into the new building past the life size bronze statue of a nine-year-old boy who, while holding a model car in his delicate hands, greeted the passersby with an angel's smile."

Great surprise conclusion! Never would have guessed who the culprit was! I thought the psychological plot re. the couple who had lost their son was a little contrived until the drugging issue became evident.

Gory, sadistic, scary stuff. I could not focus on anything else that needed to be done--just stuck to the couch needing to know what happened next. Big surprises!!!
