Great history of Iran for Level 1-10 history adventurers
I know quite a bit about history, but having grown up in the West, I rarely was exposed to ME history form a ME perspective. Now that I am married into an Iranian family, I wanted to nail down the fundamentals. This book is a great overview of Iranian history. The author does a good job of just telling the story without getting bogged down by too many details. He has a very compelling writing style which was very accessible. It has logical flows from one era to the next. There are of course many details that are missing simply because there wasn't enough time. If you want to go to Iran or hear about it and understand "This was built during _____ period by ____ ruler", you'll know the story of what was happening at the time.
