The Digestive and Urinary Systems has a retro Schoolhouse Rock feel to it, despite being published as part of World Book's Building Blocks of Science series in 2014. As with the others in the series, it is not a particularly engaging book, and I feel like I've missed something important overall.
Are these screenshots from an animated series? That would explain a lot, but I can't find anything showing this is the case. Why have 1970's-styled crayon drawings in a relatively recent publication?

I learned a few things with this information spelled out. But I didn’t like the illustrations; they looked unprofessional, quickly sketched, and weren’t aesthetically pleasing or cute.
