Meet Me in Istanbul by Richard Chisholm

This is an interesting short book set in the city of Istanbul, Turkey. This book has only 55 pages, but an absolute pageturner.

Tom Smith reading a letter from her fiancee at Heathrow Airport, London. Tom was flying to meet her fiancee in Istanbul. During the flight, Tom met Kemal and they both became good friends. On his way to the Hotel, Tom saw Angela her fiancee entering a building. He shouted but she didn't listen. They both were going to meet at the American Bar at 5:00 pm but she didn't arrive. Tom tried calling her but there was no response. .

Next day, Tom went to Angela's workplace where he met Diinya, Angela's employer. Diinya told him that Angela died a week ago in a car accident. .

It will take hardly an hour to read this short book.

For me, it was ⭐⭐⭐/5

Read this to check if it was appropriate for ESL students. Would say it's fine for A2-B1 level readers, up to 13/14 years of age. There are a few weird, contrived moments and Tom trusts... very arbitrarily. Would make for solid, even nuanced class discussion, but then again, so would any of the student's papers and those would probably be more creative.
