Floating on the Wow

Rate this book
Floating on the Wow is this year's must-read quirky fiction. Peter Dreeton was hoping to find love and a short-term career in his university admissions office set on Cape Cod. What he wasn't expecting were the dancing cranberries. We all know Peter. We went to school with him. He dated your younger sister. You met him once in a crowded bar and left wishing you had a few more hours to spend
discussing the nonsense and noise of life. He's a ninety-nine cent bean burrito from a fast food restaurant that spends the rest of the
day in the pit of your stomach. He's a small gift you were hoping to find. Floating on the Wow follows Peter on an organic journey through career decisions, the pain of loss, and finally to what makes us all human: the need to be loved; to share small stories late in the night; to discover an identity; and to finish the puzzle of ourselves. Peter's adventures confront the question we've all attempted to answer: does anything good ever happen after college?

Floating on the Wow captures a truth and honesty to what makes us all vulnerable and human. It places in our hands a reminder that the simplest pleasures in life are those rides down to the five and dime, or long car trips with family, and most of all, its the feeling of love, love in all forms and in all directions. I recommend this book for anyone looking to reconnect with those joys, anyone with a sense of levity towards all of life's ups and downs, or anyone who remembers exactly how it felt to be young and in love. Do something for yourself- reconnect with you and read this book.

I won this book and received it within the week. Wasn't expecting it so fast!!

I had never read anything by this author before so it took me a few pages to connect with his writing style.... but once I did WOW! I really enjoyed the storyline and the ease of reading. Will recommend to all my fellow readers!!

FTC disclosure: I received this book free from Goodreads hoping I would review it.

I loved this book. There are two story lines that the author skillfully blends throughout the book; one concerns the creation, implementation and success/then tragedy of the Cape Cod Reds. (You must read the book to find who or what they are.) The second is the early life of Peter Dreeton. These two stories converge in the 60's on Cape Cod where Peter and the remnents of the Cape Cod Reds experience some of life's dark moments.

However, more than the stories themselves, it is the telling of the stories that make this book special. The narrator (Peter Dreeton) is a warm, friendly, and sweet boy/man who really makes you laugh out loud. He is your friend with whom you often go out and, over a beer, he regales you with wonderful stories in a simple language which is most often quite humorous. Peter made me laugh out loud on several occasions; and then shed a tear on others. He is very human, sincere and he keeps you at the bar far into the night.

Read it!!! You will love it.

I liked the book. The author combines two stories in a very interesting and unexpected way. There were a couple of things that I wish he had developed more, but it still was a good read. I recommend the book, especially if you are into people stories. It is not an action or adventure, but a good story about peoples' lives and their experiences.

(P.S. This book was written by an author that lives somewhere near the bookstore where my mother in law works. He is an independent writer and has paid to have his book published. I think the fact that he has put so much effort into it adds something to the story)

(P.P.S I just found out that the author is working on a second book with the same main character in it. This will probably answer some of those questions about what happens to the main character at the end of the story)

I think this book just exploded in my hands! Who can write well enough to praise this book? It was cozy, warm, oh so funny,oh so sad. I had to pace myself when I got to the last fifteen pages because I thought to myself, "What am I going to read after this? It's going to be a long time before I will find anything this good again. What am I going to do now?" Usually I get to the last thirty pages and race to get through to get on to the next book. Not this one, no. I will be thinking about "Floating on the Wow" for a very long time. Want to do a favor for a friend? Pass this book along. But I suggest buying them a copy; you are not going to get it back. I LOVED IT! If life was at all fair, we'd be seeing "Floating on the Wow" on all of our 'Best Books' lists.

Floating on the Wow by Tim Yeager is a wonderfully written novel that is difficult to stop reading for fear that the magic may fade. Yeager has the gift of being able to welcome you into his "world" while helping you to recognize that it is, indeed, very familiar. It is filled with interesting characters that remind you of classmates and friends from when you were growing up.

Find out what Floating on the Wow is all about. You'll never regret it.

This is one of those books with two separate story lines that are unrelated and don't come together until the last 10 pages. I liked one of the story lines, but the plot line with he five high school girls was annoying and made me role my eyes a lot. I think the format was an experiment by the author that just didn't work out.

Floating on the Wow presents the perfect mix of his main character, Peter Dreeton, a cross between Holden Caufield, and Travis McGee. Tim's ingenious writing portrays original, funny, and poignant moments in Peter's amazing journey to self discovery. You will be well pleased to venture into this powerful read.

I did not like the title of this book - in fact, in the grocery store the clerk saw my book and said "is that any good - it's an unfortunate title" and I probably wouldn't read it ... but Despite the title - it really is a fun read - a memoir or sorts and very well written and lots and lots of humor ....it made me laugh out loud - lots to like in this book - lots and lots.

Wow, "Floating on the Wow" is very well written and enjoyable. Laughed out loud at parts. Loved Peter and the other quirky, interesting characters throughout. This author makes you feel like you were right there with them and a part of their lives. Great front porch or vacation reading!

I picked this up for my library after seeing it featured here on goodreads. It is a sweet story, skillfully written. Though the tone is light there are threads of sadness woven in, and the curious feeling that something dark looms just up ahead.

A reviewer remarked about the unfortunate title...it was what drew me to the book. That person liked the book despite the title. I'm opposite. I thought it was a horrible book and if I hadn't paid for it, I would have put it down. Don't waste your time or money.

This book needs serious editing. There are some very funny lines, but no substance.
