ETA. I’ve finally found myself a copy! And it was just like I remembered. I was so happy to be able to find a good conditioned copy and to give it a go again. How I’ve missed it! :)
Would love to read this again. I’ve read it multiple times but now I can not seem To find myself a copy of me beloved book :(
1.5 The problem with only telling Val Jean's story, and telling it in such a clearly moralistic way, is that you lose the complexity of all the different motivations that drove each individual character. That loss also causes you to miss what was different about Val Jean. Also just a bit too much moralizing throughout.
This was a quick, short read echoing the story of Les Miserables (which it's been years since I have read or watched). The story was sweet but melancholy and had pictures from an old video version included.
My grade 6 teacher read this to the class, and it moved me very much. I later found a copy for myself. I read it to my son when he was little, and I continue to reread this little treasure!
