I read this book as a part of my class for dysphagia. I didn't know much about the subject before the class, and wasn't particularly interested in it. Now, I'm looking forward to getting clinical experience in the area.

The author does a great job introducing the anatomy and physiology of the swallowing mechanism, discussing etiologies for swallowing disorders, evaluation and treatment techniques.

I would recommend this book to professionals working with individuals with swallowing disorders. It is too comprehensive to be a good "purchase" reference to a individual with a swallowing disorder or a family member.

What haven't I learned from this book (other than enteral feeding anyways)?

During my Master's, I really liked this book. I've read it cover to cover & recently pulled it out again to review trachs, which was very helpful. However, as a clinician with a few years under the belt, I'm wishing it has more in depth literature about treatment, clinical application, etc. Basically, I'm finding it had more "tell me" facts rather than "show me"/how to information, but most textbooks are this way.
