Peter Connolly was a renowned British scholar of the ancient world, Greek and Roman military equipment historian, re-constructional archaeologist and illustrator. A research Fellow at Oxford in England. He was a regular contributor to such periodicals as the Journal of Roman Military Equipment and Roman Frontier Studies.

Ideal para hacerte el insufrible si vas a ver la última peli de Nolan y quieres callarle la boca a quienes se quejan de que haya negros en el reparto, pero no de que Agamenón parezca Batman.

Es un libro técnico pero muy accesible sobre arqueología micénica que separa (en la medida de lo posible) la ficción de los relatos homéricos de la realidad.

This book was recommended to our book club by one of our members’ husband who studied classics and knows the Odyssey and the Iliad like the back of his hand. It was a very good summary of the legend on one hand whilst presenting g evidence of how things must have been at that historic period. It did, indeed, as I think, bring the history alive. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to close in on those two epic Homeric poems to help establish understanding of the goings on and timelines. Not just for kids. Highly recommend.

I've got very mixed feelings here. I'm going to say that it's very of its time (1980s). Chapter 1 is titled "All Because of a Girl". The ladies mostly have their pert breasts on full display whereas the men don't seem to have any......bits. the breasts thing is unconvincing explained on the last page. The retelling of the story is OK at best. It's nudged up to a 3* because of the information pages at the end of each section which were interesting. There are definitely better versions of the story for children now, whether there were then In not sure.
