He found the right girl...too bad he’s the wrong date.
Kyle Lonnigan can’t say he hasn’t enjoyed the bachelor life. Good times and good money have always come easily to him. But now he wants something more, maybe even—gulp—a wife and family. Always the man with the plan, he consults the expert in boring, his identical twin Lucas, who suggests secretly switching dates for a night. Kyle never expected to meet his dream woman...and now she thinks he’s someone else.
Career-minded Jessica Saunders fully intends to break up with Lucas, but the man who meets her for dinner is soooo delicious, she can’t resist seducing him first. When she learns she’s been duped—worse, that Kyle wants more than a part-time lover— she sends him packing. Jessica doesn’t believe in happily ever after. If her early life taught her anything, it’s to trust no one but herself.
Yet for a man who’s done everything wrong, wants everything she’s not and drives her absolutely insane, Kyle is getting under her skin. And into her bed. And, if she’s not careful...into the heart she thought no longer existed.
Warning: Contains a playboy with skills who attempts to seduce his way into the heart of his lady—watch out for screaming Os!
I don't think I have ever given a book 1 star before. But in all honesty I really didn't like this book at all. I skimmed the last 50 or so pages just to get done. I kept hoping that the heroine Jessica would some how redeem herself. I NEVER HAPPENS!! She is an annoying bitch throughout the entire book, and never once is she worthy of the hero, Kyle. Now he has a few flaws but what man doesn't. Jessica didn't have flaws that made likeable. And therein lays the problem. I couldn't relate to her at all. She has a sad past, but I am not sure that it warranted her becoming using bitch that she becomes. She used Kyle right up until the end when the book takes a strange turn and becomes silly. Kyle's big "uh oh" makes her realize, oh yeah wait I am capable of an emotion other than bitchiness and I can love someone else. For me it was far too late.
Some reviewers mention laughing out loud while reading this book, and to each his own, but there was nothing in my opinion remotely funny about this whole convoluted mess. I am only sorry that I bought book number two in the series. Now I am stuck with another stinker!
I found Ms. Tenorio and her books last year when I was mistakenly given her book Kiss Me Again to review. I’m glad that happened because that book turned out to be a terrific little read. So much so, when the chance came to read her again, I jumped at it.
Jessica is meeting her on-again/off-again boyfriend Lucas Lonnigan for one of their semi-routine relatively boring but companionable dinner dates. This time is going to be different, however, because Jessica has decided to break up with the man. No point in continuing a relationship that isn’t going anywhere. But tonight, there’s something different about Lucas. It’s like he’s become more optimistic, is starting a brand new lease on life.
What she finds out too late is that Lucas really is a different man. His twin brother Kyle has shown up instead, and Kyle is just as affected by Jessica. He’s been thinking lately it’s time to settle down, find a wife, have a family. He’s lived the playboy life long enough and now it’s time for more substance. And now irony is having its way with him. When he finds the one woman he knows is for him, she thinks he’s someone else.
Of course, the proverbial shit hits the fan when Jessica finds out she’s been duped. She wants nothing to do with either brother, re-enforces to herself she’s been right all along love has no place in her life. But Kyle won’t give up. He even latches onto the advice given by Jess’ secretary, Dory — who is a hoot and a half and a very enjoyable character — to finagle his way back into Jessica’s good graces. He does anything and everything to try to make her see how good they’d be together.
While I really liked the majority of this book, there are a couple of issues that didn’t work for me personally. First is the relationship between Kyle and Lucas. I never got the feeling they share that twin “thing” you always hear about. When they had scenes together, we get arguing and snapping at one another more than anything else, until late in the book when Lucas has cause to really worry about Kyle, as Jessica does. I know this is an issue for me only because I love reading about brothers and I’m just a little disappointed in the way the relationship is portrayed initially. It does get better later, but I just wanted more early on.
Also, though I realize Jessica has her reasons for keeping love at bay, not trusting to let it into her life, her refusal to give in to Kyle went on just a tad too long for me. Even more than three-quarters of the way into the book, she’s balking at Kyle’s efforts to win her over. Even when they enjoy one another intimately. Even when his touches and kisses turn her into jelly. Even somewhat after unforeseen danger comes along, making her look at herself and her/their life differently. I actually got irritated with Jessica because her attitude went on so long.
But other than those two little things, this book is fun, has some action, mystery, and danger thrown in, and all the characters are quite likable, especially Dory’s son, Daniel, and the trouble he brings to town. A nice story of looks can be deceiving, it’s what you have/see on the inside that counts.
Jessica Saunders is not happy with her relationship with Lucas, but just when she decides to end things, Lucas suddenly turns into a man she cannot resist. She soon learns that Lucas is not Lucas, but his twin brother Kyle.
Kyle is a man used to charming woman and getting what he wants and what he wants is Jessica. Unfortunately Jessica doesn’t want him, so Kyle must use all his wiles to convince Jessica that they could have a future together.
I really enjoyed reading ALL OF YOU. I’ve seen Ms. Tenorio around the internet and social networking sites before but this is the first book of hers that I read.
What I loved:
The humor in ALL OF YOU was wonderful. There were several moments inside the story where I howled with laughter. I appreciated that. ALL OF YOU really took me away, which is what you want when you pick up a romance novel. The hero Kyle and this twin brother Lucas were both compelling characters that I’d love to get to know better. I loved the fact that they didn’t have the typical brother relationship, especially as they were twins. They each had distinct personalities, yet I could tell they came from the same family. Jessica’s assistant was original and well drawn-out. I really loved her as a character. The characters of ALL OF YOU were original and really made me keep turning the pages to see what’s happening next.
What I thought could be improved:
The whole suspense sub-plot involving Daniel seemed contrived to me. I can’t tell you without spoiling the plot (think mistaken impressions and the DEA). I felt it didn’t add to the story or to Jessica and Kyle’s developing relationship and could’ve been lifted from the book without anything being missed. Jessica struck me as not as well-drawn out as Kyle or even his twin brother. I think if a little more back-story was woven into her character, even if it was only a sentence or two that would’ve made me feel more empathy for Jessica as a character. You didn’t get an explanation for her actions until half-way through ALL OF YOU and in my humble opinion, that shouldn’t have been the case. When you do understand her back-story, I felt that it was too heavy-handed. I literally felt that violins should have been playing in the background. I wanted to shout “get over it, everyone has crappy lives and people had it worse than you. Besides you’re not a kid anymore, it’s time to think like an adult and not a sullen teenager.” But that could’ve been just me. Overall: I loved ALL OF YOU but thought the heroine Jessica was too wishy-washy. She reminded me of a heroine in a YA romance instead of a grown woman in an erotic romance novel.
Reading All of You by Dee Tenorio, the first book in The Lonnigans series certainly entertained me on all fronts. Wickedly sensual with a touch of the trademark Tenorio humor in all the right places (which I came to identify and fall in love with after reading Betting Hearts) and characters who just leaped right out the pages certainly made for an unforgettable read. A huge thanks to Ms. Tenorio for providing me a copy of this story filled with several laugh-out-loud moments together with enough passion to curl my toes inward all the way!
Jessica Saunders has been seeing Lucas Lonnigan (twin of Kyle Lonnigan) for the past 4 months in the most platonic relationship she has ever being in. Solely focused on her career as a financial lawyer, Jessica is a woman who has sworn off all sorts of things to do with emotions and making herself vulnerable enough to feel anything for anyone apart from herself. When she agrees to see Lucas the fateful night that everything changes, the only thing that Jessica wants is to break things off with Lucas, until in walks a version of the man himself that seems to have personified every wild and wanton craving that Jessica has ever had.
When Kyle who works as an investment banker switches dates with his twin Lucas he has no idea that he is about to meet the one woman who would irrevocably change his life. Kyle who plans everything to death so that his life would go according to his whim finds himself poleaxed by the need to claim and possess his brother’s date as his own, a need that seems to be reciprocated which concludes the night in Kyle having the most fabulous sex of his life – before he is able to tell Jessica (Jess or Jessie as he calls her tenderly) who he really is.
What follows is the story of how Kyle who six months back had suddenly found his life lacking decided that marriage and 2.5 kids were what he needed, tries to convince Jessica that together they could achieve his dreams of a happy home and family. But Kyle finds out the hard way that the woman who rocks his world on so many levels, the woman he wants to claim as his wife and the mother of all his babies, is the one woman on the planet who has no intention of committing herself to a life as the one he has envisioned.
Kyle Lonnigan has a good life and he knows it. He’s an investment banker, has a loving family (even if his twin can be a bit robot-like at times), and never has a hard time capturing the interest of a beautiful woman. But lately Kyle’s started yearning for more: namely a wife, children, dog, and possibly even a white picket fence to go with it. Kyle is supposed to meet up with his good friend Belinda one night, but his twin, Lucas, comes up with a plan. The two should secretly switch dates for a night. Kyle decides to go along with the plan, not expecting that his date would be the woman of his dreams.
Jessica Saunders is all set to break up with Lucas…until he shows up for their date with a vibrancy she’s never before seen in him. Jessica knows she and Lucas will never go anywhere, but that doesn’t stop her from giving into temptation and relishing in a night of wild passion. Then Jessica finds out she’s slept with her date’s twin and – what’s worse – the man wants her to head down the fast track to marriage and babies with him. All hell breaks loose and Jessica is determined to never see Kyle again.
But Kyle’s not going to take no for an answer. Two stubborn people, each determined to get their way. Will Kyle be able to seduce his way into Jessica’s walled-off heart?
Sparks – and clothes – fly in the sensual All of You. Dee Tenorio has penned a fantastic book with two protagonists who tempt, tease, and argue their way into a relationship neither had expected. Both Kyle and Jessica are so sure of what they want, and their goals are completely opposite, which is half of what makes their attraction to one another so much fun to read about. Each of them has something to learn and I liked watching them grow over the course of the story.
Like all of Ms. Tenorio’s books that I’ve read, All of You is sexy and engaging. I adored the story and was entertained the whole way through. I finished All of You a well-satisfied reader and am eagerly looking forward to reading Lucas and Belinda’s book, All or Nothing.
I didn't enjoy this book as much as previous ones I've read by this author, mainly because I couldn't connect with the hero/heroine. The hero was inoffensive but didn't really grab my imagination. My problem with the heroine is one I have with most Donna Julia (Byron) type heroines: I detest the trope of much denial leading to helpless consent.
Still, the author kept me reading, and invested enough in the story that I finished it and am going to read all about the twin. I would like to have a story about Dori's son...
I have to say that the back and forth between the characters was very entertaining. There were times I almost laughed out loud, and being at work, that would have been very embarrassing. I can't wait to read about poor Lucas. Maybe we'll get to understand why he seems to be a complete %^&**%$# to his brother.
I enjoyed this book quite a bit. Tenorio excels at bringing out the best in her characters' emotions and making them seem so very real. This is book 1 in a two-parter about 2 twin brothers who switch dates. I thought this one was more focused on the heroine's issues, but it didn't detract at all. In fact, Kyle's easy acceptance helped bring her along.
This book reminds me of why I stopped reading romance books. It's a little too unbelievable. Now I believe anything is possible but the various things to make the plot work didn't seem very plausible. It was fun and sexy, a pretty light fast read. Perhaps I just like a little more humor and more blazing hotness. There is a second in this series, maybe I will like it more.
This was a simplistic story, but I really enjoy the author's work so even simple is nice. I liked the characters and am looking forward to the brother's story too!
