Coming Undone

When Andre left the orphanage, my heart shattered. He was my soul mate, the love of my life.

He promised to come back for me on my eighteenth birthday.

But he didn’t, and my heart shattered all over again.

It’s been five years since I taped the pieces of my heart back together and I’m still here.

Imagine my surprise when he shows up on the doorstep and it’s clear he’s not there for me. He’s there to take his vows to become a priest.

The harder I push to show him his vows might not be his only option, the more I realize there might have been more to his reason for leaving me.

This book is intended for mature readers.

January 2024 update: Melody is no longer publishing. Thank you for all of the support over the years.

Melody Calder is a multi-trope romance author with an addiction to chocolate, dill pickles, books, and swearing; not necessarily in that order. Her mind is always full of interesting characters and plot twists. She not so secretly loves cliffhangers and endings that are not the norm.

She hopes to survive the teenage years of her twins, which is worse than the terrible twos, and her puppy who lives up to his name - Dragon. Her hobbies include collecting elephant figurines, painting, and annoying her husband by forgetting to switch the laundry. Her family and friends will tell you that she needs reminders for everything, but they love her anyway.

3,5 💘💔💔🌟s

Before I say anything, the cover was one of the most beautiful ones I have seen!!! 🤩🤩🤩♥️

Andre and Simone’s story was so beautifully written and their journey was not plain at all!

They were very young when they met at the orphanage in 1949. Simone had lost her parents when she was a baby and Andre at the age of 11 in a car crash. Simone saw how sad Andre was and decided to take his sadness away.
They became inseparable.

This was not an easy read, from a lot of aspects.
It was heartbreaking, emotional, gripping, tough, daring and demanding.
Regardless, it took me out of my comfort zone. I had a hard time encountering their love relationship, while Andre was attending seminary. He was a deacon and in one year was supposed to take his vows.
There were a couple of times that I was so close to dnf it, but the author’s writing wouldn’t let me.

The closure was sweet but very condensed.

Coming Undone definitely pulls at your heartstrings. Its a bittersweet love story.

Simone & Andre's story is sad in that they both go through loss at an early age and they find friendship, solace and love with each other. As well as a family as such in the Orphanage, the nuns (who take care of them) and the church. With Andre's demons and the church having given them their beliefs in regards of no relationships before marriage they both struggle with their attraction to one another.

My goodness did i go through the emotions with these two characters. Id been willing both them from the very beginning of this book to get together. I just loved both of them and the story too. A great read

In this short read, the author takes us through the lives of two characters from childhood to adulthood. Simone has been in the Catholic orphanage since she was a baby. It's all she's ever known. Anndre' arrives at the orphanage at the age of 11, angry, grieving for his lost parents, and closed off to everyone.
Simone is determined to show Andre' compassion and love, so she chooses to do that with the gift of a frog from the pond. From that moment forward, their friendship and close bond develop until they are inseparable. When Andre' turns 18 and leaves the orphanage, Simone grieves daily for him. They'd fallen deeply in love. Then all communication stops, and she never recovers. Did their love mean nothing?
Then she gets the shock of her life when Andre' shows up in a priest's frock. I won't spoil the story for anyone, but I will say this book drew me in from the first page to the last. The secrets, the demons, the betrayals, and most of all, the undying love is a story that will tug at your heart.

Coming Undone is definitely a book that can undo your emotions. So lets meet the two main characters of this book. Simone and Andre. So these two meet in an orphanage when they are children. Simone is a free and wild spirit but being raised by nuns she is still a good person. She is not one to be a bad apple. Then you have Andre who is a hot mess and trying to deal with his demons. Simone and Andre become friends growing up and are inseparable. However while being raised by the church they have the church beliefs instilled into them. Once they reach adult age the church sends them on their way to make their mark on the world. Only something goes a little bit array when Andre left. Now we get to find out if love is true and if it can defy anything. These two are put through some trials as you would say. At the same time they each test their resolve. So will these two get their happily ever after. Check out this amazing roller coaster of emotions to find out.

This is a beautiful love story!
These two characters, Simone and Andre are beautiful and aggravating all at the same time. We watch them fall in love, it's not a loud and proud love but a love that must be hidden and kept secret. This is a forbidden love.
They both have such deep feelings, some pure and innocent and some dark and not understood but they work together to understand their feelings and the progression of their love.
This sotry is a true partnership of these two people coming together, learning, growing and encouraging each other to be the best they can be for each other and for their future.

Coming undone what an absolutely lovely story the characters Simone and Andres have had sad life’s but there also hopefully they meet when Andres lose his parents and goes to the orphanage were Simone has been since she was a baby. There first meeting doesn’t go so well but Simone is determined to make Andres be her friend and to love him. But Andres has his own demons and push Simone away cursing her heart to break.

This is an absolutely beautiful story full off love and struggling to come to terms with the past hurt but the characters are beautiful and are just meant for each other if only they could expect there feeling for each other. I would recommend this story I loved it

This a beautiful and frustrating love story. Simone and Andre are wonderful characters. Both are selfless in many ways and just want to do what is best for the other because they love them so. Cue in the frustrating parts because there are times you just want to shake them but how they love each other, the intensity of those feelings is beautiful. You never once in this story question their feelings for on another. Overall a wonderful romance and worth the read.

Cute story

This book was so sweet. The love Andrè and Simone had for each other started at such a young age. Growing up together and being best friends they developed an amazing connection. Andrè is going through so much he believes becoming a priest is what he should do. But he would have to give up his love for Simone. This was a really quick read if you haven't read it give t a chance.

I loved this romance story about two kids who meet as orphans and deal with their demons. Allowing them to fall in love as adults. I really enjoyed the love that Simone was able to give all of the people around her especially Andre. The setting of the story was described beautifully. The author did a great job at writing about mental health in the 50’s and how people dealt with it back then. Though I didn’t know it took place in the 50s if it wasn’t for the disclosure in the beginning.

This book grabbed me from the beginning and would not let me go until the last page was read. It moves along at a great pace, which made an enjoyable read. The characters are amazing and you will fall in love with them. You feel as though you know them and no matter what you want to be there for them. This book has to be on your TBR list, no doubt about it.

This book was so different to what I have been currently reading but was a absolute breath of fresh air. Simone and Andre had me trying for their love from the beginning but then would have me so frustrated I wanted to ring their necks. This story definitely took my emotions on a ride . This is a definite must read.

This one is so unlike anything I've read before. It does the characters from childhood and into adulthood so you really get a deep grasp of their inner workings and the turmoil that happens between them. There is a lot of push and pull in this one, and at points can be hard to read if you relate to André in any way. It's a HEA that's well deserved, though, and with taking the time to read!

I loved this book so much! It was nice reading another period piece. The main characters had so much angst and I just couldn't put it down. The author did a great job researching the Catholic church and depression. This author is amazing.

Simone and Andre met when they were in the orphanage run by the church. Simone decided they were to be friend so she caught a frog to give him. That started their close friendship that became love, the were soulmates. So many trials, heartbreak, growth and a second chance leading to a HEA. A very lovely story that addresses mental illness also.

This is a Heartbreaking read throughout. This is no fluffy romance, but a read that will pull on each heartstring till its pulled taught for the entire read.
Simone feels for the new boy at the orphanage so much. so that she is determined to help him that she will love him enough to fight all his demons.
Andre living with his demons and the death of his parents just wants to be left alone.
