She’s his destined mate. He’s the last man she’s ready to trust.

Hunter has waited over a decade for Genevieve Drake, a Dhampir born to be the perfect match for a vampire like him. Once a fearless cop, she's now running from the wreckage of a relationship that left more than physical scars. She needs a new future. He needs her to remember who she was meant to be. Neither expects how much it’ll take to tear down the walls between them.

Their reunion begins with a job offer and a psychic bond Hunter is desperate to forge. But Genevieve’s mind stays locked tight. No magic, no touch, no promise can get through. Still, he doesn’t chase. He waits. He watches. He lets her fight her way back to herself. Because deep down, she knows she’s never been broken. Just bruised and surviving.

When the past claws back with more than just memories, everything shifts. What haunts her isn’t done yet, and Hunter's not the only one who wants inside her mind. Their bond tightens under pressure, becoming something fierce, intimate, and unstoppable. She’s the only one who can choose to be free, and he’ll be right there when she does.

Genevieve grows from guarded and haunted to powerful and whole, claiming her strength and voice one truth at a time. Hunter learns how to hold without gripping tight, letting trust grow instead of trying to force it. What starts in tension burns into something tender, psychic, deeply earned, built on choice, respect, and slow, raw healing.

A steamy, fated mates, vampire–dhampir paranormal romance with psychic bonds, forced proximity, a wounded heroine who rises, and an alpha who waits. It’s about reclaiming power after betrayal, healing through connection, and choosing intimacy on your own terms. No one’s rescued. They rise together, stronger than what tried to break them.

The Elevator Pitch: A wounded Dhampir and a powerful vampire are bound by fate but divided by trauma. When a failed psychic bond unearths buried danger, trust becomes the only way forward. This dark, steamy paranormal romance blends emotional healing with intense heat and high-stakes intimacy.

Genevieve is part-human/part-vampire (a dhampir) and a former narcotics officer. Reeling from shooting the man she thought she loved, a crooked cop, she quit the police force and is searching for another job. Her family is full of vampires and dhampirs, and she knows it’s time to take her rightful place in the vampire world as a vampire’s assistant/bodyguard, which also means mistress.
Hunter has been waiting for Genevieve for fourteen years. He loves her and knows she’s the one he’s meant to be with, but she was just a child when they met. Now, she’s an adult and goes to his business in search of a job as his mistress. She wants him as much as he wants her, but her past is forever present in her mind and is keeping them apart.
I liked this book and the characters, but I really wish it would’ve been longer for more character development and fuller back-stories. Still, it’s a good, short story to pass an hour or two.

I have been a fan of Angela Knight for years now. I love reading anything by her. Genevieve is a Dhampir who is 'interviewing' with Hunter for a position in his household. Hunter is a Vampire. There is a special bond between Vampires and Dhampirs. She had a crush on him when she was younger. He has known that she will be his one day. At their ceremony, something goes wrong. Will they be able to work it all out so that they can have a happy union?

While this story had a great premise, it fell flat for me. The buildup of destiny, the focus of foretold lovers, the relationship of strong dynamics should be the backbone of the drama. But very little time was spent on the relationship between Hunter and Genevieve or on the dynamics of the partnership they were to have going forward. No real emotional attachment was created. Is this possibly a prequel to a new series?

This story was mostly spice with not much of a plot. I found how things worked out in the end to be quite interesting but the ending itself a bit abrupt. I also would have liked a bit more connection and relationship building between the main characters. It was fun for a short spicy read though.

The author has given us a vampire story that pulls us into the lives of Hunter and Genevieve. The story keeps us turning the pages with expectations, trust issues, secret desires and OTT steam.

I really liked this book and the characters were awesome. It would have been cool to have a longer story so we could get to know them even better. But even as a shorter read, it was still super satisfying!.

This short story is dual POV, well written and edited, and a fast paced, steamy, fated mates, contemporary fantasy romantic erotica between Genevieve, the female dhampir lead, and Hunter, the male vampire lead. I enjoyed Genevieve’s acceptance of the need for a career pivot. I enjoyed Hunter’s patience prior to the story commencement. I enjoyed the steamy intimate scenes.

Genevieve is a Dhampir – half vampire, half human. Her genetics make her the perfect mate for a vampire, which is why, when she decides she needs a change of jobs, she applies to work for Hunter. The gorgeous vampire is all-too-willing to have Genevieve for a mate, but in order for a union to form, they need to establish a bond that goes deeper than sex and blood. But a mentally scarring incident in Genevieve’s past makes her unable to lower her mental walls enough to let Hunter in. Can the vampire break through her shields to give them an opportunity to have forever together?

Angela Knight rocks this sexy paranormal! The Dhampir is pure erotic entertainment. Genevieve and Hunter fit each other like lock and key, making it easy to sit back and just enjoy the ride. Genevieve has not only been hurt in the past, she was nearly killed by a vicious, evil ex. It’s understandable why she struggles with opening herself up to Hunter, even though she truly wants to. I loved that Hunter was patient and understanding regarding this struggle, and that he cared more about her as a person than simply the union he wanted to have with her. All in all, The Dhampir is an enjoyable story from Ms. Knight, one of the greatest erotic paranormal romance authors.

It's a Ms. Knight book so I'm going to like it. I enjoy Ms. Knight's writing voice very much. There is just something about it which helps me connect to the characters better. I liked Genevieve. The fact that she is a cop also strokes a button I like. This book a very short read that was fun and light. I recommend it for anyone who likes a bit of a smexy vampire story.

I adore Angela Knight's books, so this was a massive disappointment. It had none of the steam I'd expect from her, and the set-up of destined/foretold lovers was underutilized. In fact, while I expected it to be the main focus of the story, it received very little attention, and therefore the emotional connection between the characters was absent.

Angela Knight is a near auto-buy for me, so maybe I expected too much from her latest. Don't get me wrong...this wasn't bad for a quick read. The bones of the story were good, but it was too short to have any flesh and develop any real connection to the (potential) romance.

This felt like a prequel but...nothing?

The name of the book is actually The Dhampir. This was a great book. I hope that Ms. Knight will write more of the storyline.
