A vibrant and comprehensive tour of the extraordinary architectural and botanical wonders that have survived and have been beautifully preserved in Rochester for over 200 years. The city is rare among American cities for the great variety and exceptional quality of architectural styles as well as the private and public gardens that have given Rochester the claim to "the Flower City."
If I could give this ten stars I would. I kept reading stuff aloud to my husband because there are so many things I didn’t know about the city in which I’ve lived my entire life. I only wish this hadn’t been written in 1994, but that it had updated such as the restoration of the Frank Lloyd Wright house, updates to the Eastman House, etc.
Nice overview, but it's almost exclusively downtown, Corn Hill, East Avenue, and Pittsford. I would have liked to seen some Maplewood and Brighton, especially the Ambassador Drive area.
