"Vampire Island" is an action- packed YA book. I could easily relate to Zoe who is a girly- girl who hid her intelligence under her fashion statement. Ms. Cox quickly lets you know Zoe suffered a huge loss with her parents’ sudden death. Zoe’s adventure begins with her going to live with her uncle, who immediately tells this seventeen-year-old not to go out into the dark. Of course, she questions this and the mystery begins. I couldn’t put the book down after that. I look forward to the next book in the series. I recommend this for anyone who loves a good supernatural mystery from a teenager’s point of view, or just loves a good action adventure on a tropical island.

This book is pretty cool so far!
For those of you, like me, still looking for that story to fill the void that Buffy the Vampire series left when the TV show ended (even though it continues on in Manga), this series will totally fit the bill.
Zoe is like Buffy in a way, but not the young flighty Buffy. She's more like the older, wiser Buffy who doesn't have much naivete, if any, left.
Uncle Julian is like Angel and Giles all rolled in to one! Then there's Oz the Ocelot...a big cat with silver claws. He's like the Gwenwyvar of the hunter world, just not as big or ethereal. (Gwenwyvar is the 600 pound feline companion of Drizzt Do'Urden from R.A. Salvatore's Saga.)
There's so many likable facets to this story. Then there's the mysterious Luella the cook. I'm not giving away how she fits into all of this because finding out is half the fun!
I really enjoyed this story and found myself drawn so far into the story that I felt like a teenager again, even if it was just for a moment. This is a great read no matter what age you are!
Be sure to look for it in print and in eBook form, you won't regret it!

This book is about 17-year old Zoe Tempest. She was a normal teenage girl until suddenly her parents were murdered,so she goes to live with her mysterious uncle Julian Kilmer at the Bahamas. What she doesn't know is that she is a vampire hunter. In chapter 5 she goes to explore the Island and meets a girl at Java Joe's named Tia Snyder. They were talking about music when "Hottie Boy" walked in and started talking to Zoe and wanted to come to her house then it was all bad in chapter 8/7

I'm a sucker for vampire stories...
This was a quick one, and I do mean quick. Very fast pace, a good sense of humor, and a "fun" but far from reality type read. If you're into heavy plots with deep social implications, this is not the book for you, but if you're looking for a light, easy read including your classical vampires, you might give this one a go.

Brilliant
Loved this book.love the characters I cannot wait to read book two.hopefully won't have to wait long.....I'd recommend this book any fans of buffy xx

When I was a teenager, I loved books about vampires. Every now and then, I'll still pick up one and read it. They're my guilty pleasure reads. When I saw Vampire Island, I knew I had to request it. I fell in love with the gorgeous cover, and the book sounded mysterious and intriguing. Unfortunately I didn't care for it. It turned out to be a flop.
I don't know what went wrong with Vampire Island. Up until about thirty percent, I was loving it so much that it was hard to put down. It was engaging, and kept me turning pages trying to figure out what was gong to happen next. Then it suddenly switched gears. It was almost like a different author started writing the book. It became predictable and boring. It became so cheesey and cliche that it was almost unbearable to read in spots.
Vampire Island went from being a great book to read to a huge disappointment. I have no idea how it went so wrong when the beginning started off that promising. It was almost like the author just gave up. There are a few other books in this series, but I won't be reading them.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I couldn't put it down. I look forward to next in the series!! It was wonderfully written. There were so many times I was scared to climb out of bed for fear of being attacked myself. It had the hair on the back of my neck standing all night!! Definitely need to read this if you are interested in Vampire slaying. The only thing that bothered me, I just can't explain, bc it's a huge spoiler. So please read no further if you have not read the book.

I was a bit bothered by the fact that Dere was killed so easily by Zoe, when her Uncle, who is trained at this, had been chasing him for several decades. Just seemed to easy for me. But perhaps he isn't really dead? We shall find out in the next sequel.

YA is one of my favorite genres, and Sandra Cox didn’t disappoint. I thoroughly enjoyed Zoe as she adjusted to her new life with her Uncle Julian after losing her parents. Her inner struggle to deal with her loss and adapt to her surroundings was well written, and I enjoyed Oz as well. I look forward to this author’s next book.
