So who is Valerie Van Arsdale Shrader? Short bios of all of the designers are included but not a word about the author. Why did she select these artists and these quilts? Context would be useful.
I got this book for $3.00 from a warehouse sale. Glad I didn't have to pay the original price.

Freeform designs require minimal measuring and marking. The materials feature irresistible prints, vintage-style charm, or cool details. This book didn't wow me but it does have some good, basic quilts that might be good beginning quilts for the newbie quilter. Many of the patterns were too busy for me in terms of fabric and I like more complex piecing and shapes. I did love the idea of the baby quilt including the baby's name, birthday and weight. Very cute!

Judging by the cover, I thought the quilts would be really interesting. Well, maybe I meant interesting and beautiful. The design of the book is fairly ugly, and so are many of the quilts. I was surprised to find a quilt included by Amy Karol, and that is indeed an interesting and beautiful one.
