Tokyo is a city that evolves with breathtaking pace, thanks largely to a local obsession with renewal and innovation. Spectacular restaurants and bars, with designs from Tokyo's young hotshots, are opening across the city, and the luxury hotel scene is buzzing, with a Mandarin Oriental, Conrad, Ritz Carlton and Peninsula all joining the fray. The wildly popular lifestyle complex Roppongi Hills has new rivals in the form of Ando Tadao's Omotesando Hills and the Midtown Project.
Yet in the midst of this consumer frenzy, the traditional Tokyo is also enjoying a renaissance. Zen practices are making a comeback and traditional Japanese design is now all the rage. With foreign interest in Japan showing no signs of waning, Time Out Tokyo is the most reliable commentator on its dazzlingly fast paced, ever-changing capital.

Buona guida con un'ampia panoramica della città e dei dintorni. Tuttavia, mappe non molto ampie e un aggiornamento risalente a 7 anni fa non mi permettono di dare più di tre stelle.
Generally I like the Time Out travel guides when I visit another country. Decent maps but more important good writers. Or writer. I am not sure if there is a whole bunch of people in Shibuya writing this guide in some weird Japaense coffee shop or not. But overall I pretty much trust them. They have an understanding of the culture and the recommended walking tours are always good as well.
My dream is to write my own Tokyo travel guide, and I almost did, but alas and with a sigh it didn't happen. Although the future is just seconds away...
We looked at a lot of travel books before our trip to Tokyo, but this was the one we ended up purchasing. Lots of great recommendations and helpful maps.
