The pirate brandished an AK-47 And his band of desperate thieves and cutthroats is ready to take down a cargo ship containing a fortune in expensive cars . . . and a hundred fortunes in heroin and black market weapons. Zeke Kurjan has done this before, terrorizing the Somali coast, ransoming the crews and contents of ships for millions of dollars.
But now they have to contend with Team Whiskey, a hard-bitten cadre of ex-Delta Force vets whose leader, Phil “Snake” Nolan, was given a dishonorable discharge for pursuing Osama bin Laden at Tora Bora. They might not be U.S. warfighters anymore, but Team Whiskey still cares about freedom and protecting the innocent. And they’ve got the know-how and the weapons to fight these pirate scum.
Team Whiskey has the pirates in their sights, but their foes, fueled by greed and revenge, are hellbent on their own deadly mission. Whiskey’s in for a hell of a fight on the high seas!

The Pirate Hunters are a band of ex-military special ops veterans who get together to fight pirates; this is the first volume of the series, which premiered in 2010. There are several sequential adventures in the book, and the action never lets up. The characters tend to be a bit on the cardboard side, but there are some clever and amusing bits and exchanges. There's quite a bit of violence, but it tends to the cartoonish rather than the gory or gruesome. You can't go wrong fighting pirates; just look how well it worked for Kit Walker.
Really enjoyed this one, only my second by Maloney and definitely need to read more. In this a team of Delta Force vets who were screwed out of their career 10 years before have turned themselves into pirate hunters. The team become mercenaries on the high seas going after pirates with all of their knowledge and weapons training, going up against amazing odds. It reads like a short story collection in a way since its many battles but they are all tied together over a specific time period.
Highly recommended, the characters of Team Whiskey are all well detailed and interesting. Also the battles are just plain fun to read.
Fast paced, multi-games of cat and mouse between modern day pirates and the team hired to defeat them. A highly entertaining adventure filled with guns, bombs, ships, helicopters, pirates, cheating, lying, politics, success and disaster. Did I mention PIRATES?
Lots of violence (as expected) without an overload of gory details. Just enough to fuel the imagination... and turning the pages.
Looking forward to the next book, Mack... and thanks for the Pirate Hunters patch.
I was excited to find out that I'd won a First Reads edition of this book. It's not a book that I would usually pick out for myself but I was pleasantly surprised to find that I enjoyed it. Very action packed which kept the book moving. I had to keep reading because you didn't know what would happen next. I see that there is a sequel out so I'll be picking that up at some point. I'll also be passing this book along to my dad as this is the type of book he usually reads.
This was a pretty cool book. It's kind of complicated and not really my type of book. I like things that aren't based to hard in reality but this was all in reality. I'm not saying it's bad but it's not my kind of book. More to come later, I don't have time right now to do a full review. I recommend reading it though!
A fast moving read. This book is full of action and suspense and covers several missions of a group of former Army elite team members. It was well written and kept me reading. I am looking forward to Mack Maloney's next book.
