The Practical Australian Gardener comes up with answers when other gardening books leave you unsatisfied. All that extra practical information you need for maintaining a really flourishing garden, is here. Peter Cundall provides a guide to flower and vegetable gardens, house plants, home orchards and landscaping in each month of the gardening year. And, he adds his inimitable advice on such topics as drip irrigation; keeping dogs, cats and possums out of the garden; landscaping a sloping site; using rotary hoe and pest control without poisons.
This is an extremely useful book. As a novice gardener, Peter Cundall, the original presenter on Gardening Australia, breaks down what you should be doing in your garden each week of every month of the year. So far I have learnt how to plant a veggie garden and how to rotate your crops and to get rid of harmful bugs attacking my roses. This is something I will return to time and time again.
I live in the northern hemisphere but it's easy to reverse the months to replicate the seasons, ie July in Aus is January in Britain. He is full of really good advice that you don't get in other gardening books.
