Shigley’s Mechanical Engineering Design is intended for students beginning the study of mechanical engineering design. Students will find that the text inherently directs them into familiarity with both the basics of design decisions and the standards of industrial components. It combines the straightforward focus on fundamentals that instructors have come to expect, with a modern emphasis on design and new applications. The ninth edition of Shigley’s Mechanical Engineering Design maintains the approach that has made this book the standard in machine design for nearly 50 years.
I read this when I was a student - I was able to keep ahead of the class by reading the topic ahead of time. It's a really good professional book, and has a lot of knowledge and tables that most engineering designers wont know about unless they've read this. My favourite textbook.
so this is supposed to be the holy grail of meche or whatever but it is mediocre at best. might have been better in like the 70's before i could just google one of 500 billion coefficients
I am taking this course as it requested from my university to complete my BS degree. It is really intersting and powerful book. To whom concern with Machine Design, I suggest this book to build your knowledge in this subject.
