Girls Gone Green

Rate this book
Hayden Panettiere, Mischa Barton, Ellen Page— everyone’s going green these days, but saving the environment is a large task for anyone to take on, especially a teenager. Yet the everyday green girls profiled here have a passion—to do just that. They’ve stepped up, taken the initiative, and made their voices heard, and in doing so, they have helped to effect change—from creating a cosmetics line free of toxic chemicals to trying to conquer global warming to encouraging the use of wind power. Filled with stories from real girls who made a difference, plus lots of celebrity green girls who are doing their part to help out, Girls Gone Green gives girls everywhere the inspiration to do something to help their world. It doesn’t matter how small the change is—it only matters that you make the effort to bring about that change.

Want to learn about living an eco-friendly life or being an activist? This nonfiction book is for you, especially if you’re a girl. Profiles of activists are divided by chapter. “The Beauty Entrepreneurs and Fashionistas” chapter may be a real eye-opener. Food, clothes, shopping, saving animals, green careers and more is covered. Inspiring profiles of determined teens who don’t get stopped by the challenges that come with activism! -- Steve Fondiller

This is a great book for inspiring tween and teen girls to do something good for our earth. It is full of positive role models; girls that have done great eco-friendly things at young ages. I will definitely have my daughters read it and will probably get copies for each of the girls in my Girl Scouts troop.

An inspiring assortment of stories about environmentally friendly teen girls who have found their own unique ways of 'going green.' Sprinkled with celeb input (ie Alicia Silverston) this visually engaging, easy to read book is filled with great ideas for activists of all ages.
