Cosi fan tutee contains some of Mozart's most sublime music. On one level, the opera is purely a social anecdote about young people fating in and out of love; but Mozart was supreme sensualist and a great humanist, and invested the take with at his understanding of humanity and young love.

Excellent and educational. Although this recording is maddeningly brief (~80 minutes), it helps elevate a romantic comedy storyline that’s seen as purely fluff (Wagner and Beethoven looked down on Mozart’s opera libretto topics as inconsequential). This analysis, like Smillie’s other Opera Explained recording, helps highlights some other considerations and potential interpretations of the multiple layers of meaning that can be drawn from this piece. Again, I acknowledge these musical audiobooks are not reading per se, but they are informative, interesting and helpful.
