I love my job because it involves sitting down at my computer and getting swept up in a world of high emotions, sensual excitement, funny feisty women, sexy tortured men and glamourous locations where laundry doesn't exist ...
I also tutor a 14-week in-depth online Write a Romance Novel course. So, if you have ever wanted to learn how to write romance from a bestselling author, check it out here: www.profwritingacademy.com/course/wri...
Now I believe wholeheartedly that readers should give honest and open reviews on Goodreads and Amazon and elsewhere. If you didn't like a book you are entitled to say so (even if it's mine! ouch). But you may notice that none of my book reviews are less than four-stars. That's simply because as an author myself I know how pathetically sensitive I am about bad reviews and with that in mind I prefer to spread the love among other authors — and don't do public reviews of books I didn't like. Just thought I'd clarify that!

Heroine has a backstory - she was dated raped at 16, fell pregnant and then miscarried. She hasn't dated in the six years since.
Hero has a backstory - he was raised by an abusive alcoholic father and when he was severely injured the family was broken up and he went into a foster home.
Fun, huh? All the glamour HP promises.
I'm so tired of these gawd awful backstories being cured by great sex and nosy siblings and friends.
The romance in this one is non-existent. The H/h have an instant attraction when the heroine waylays the famous actor hero in the airport to beg him to attend his estranged sibling's wedding in France. He kisses an gropes her after a short conversation. Tacky. I just don't believe in passionate kisses ten minutes after meeting.
Their first time was equally tacky. Hero goes to the wedding for a booty call. He barely speaks to his brother. And guess what? Hero didn't even know the heroine's last name after having sex with her. And it was his agent who had to tell him. *sigh*
It goes on from there. The whole thing was tacky.

Really just too absurd to even bother reviewing seriously. All HPs are formulaic, but this one took it to extremes.
To begin with, the meet premise: Juno Delamare is at Heathrow airport attempting to ambush Hollywood superstar Mac Brody and make him accept an invite he already declined to his estranged brother's wedding in two weeks. Juno's BFF is the bride, and having the brothers reconcile is important to her, ergo it's important to Juno. 1. How does a shopgirl of no import get a hold of a movie star's flight info? 2. Who involves herself in other people's family drama like this? 3. If you're a superstar trying to avoid the paparazzi, why are you kissing a stranger in the middle of Heathrow?
The characters had Dark Pasts in lieu of personalities, and when they were revealed it was a mix of "what?" and "is that it?" Silly, silly, silly. She is, of course, a near virgin and 10+ years younger than he is, and it is, of course, the best sex he ever had. Because banging a 22 year old who went white as a sheet and tried to run away in fear of his hard on is extremely arousing. They have this magical sex until the author nears the end of her word count and contrives the misunderstanding for the hero to grovel his way to HEA.
Thank goodness this was a freebie for me. Ew.

I am a total "groupie". I love stories about rockstars, moviestars...any stars!!!!
So not only is this book about a Hollywood actor but also written by one of my fav Mills & Boon/Harlequin authors...so how could I go wrong!!!
Heidi Rice's heroes are not just so fabulous but also sexy, dreamy, gorgeous and naturally alpha-male. Her heroines are sassy, interesting and full of fun.
So we have Mac Brody, the brooding Celtic Hollywood star who meets the cute Juno Delamare, shop assistant working at her best friend's fashion store in Portebello, London, who just happens to be getting married to Mac's gorgeous brother.
What follows is such a funny and so lovable journey between two endearing characters. iI fell in love with both Mac & Juno from the first page. Love the London, French chateaus and Hollywood settings...beautiful people, glamorous lifestyle, beautiful homes, first class travel...oh man..it's the kind of life I dream about...so EXACTLY...I became Juno for a while and had Mac to myself for a few dizzying moments before he went off and found his true love and lived happily ever after. Naturally I wanted that to happen really bad. Happily both faced their little "demons" and flew off to their HEA.
The interaction and dialogue between the two mc's was a total blast -
Juno was so totally likeable..in fact I couldn't help so engaging with her -
And Mac....how could I not fall in love with this sexy and gorgeous man who has insecurities so hidden.....
Oh I love this guy's internalization!!!!!
I loved the writing, the dialogue - witty, quirky...
I loved the secondary characters - Connor and Daisy and I am definitely going to read their story next.
Great story.

"Kissing him had been like falling into a sunbeam, making every single cell in her body explode with rupture."

"He wanted her to know he was doing her a favour. He didn't want her to know how eager he was for her to come to LA or how much her damn note (ooh the note Juno left after their first one night together was "wicked")had rattled him. It would make him look like an idiot"
"So there'd be no more heart-to-hearts, no more delving into her past, no more trying to figure out her psyche. That had been a dumb idea."
Oh I love this guy's internalization!!!!!

He shifted. "I hate to rush you," he murmured, his voice gruff,"but I have so little blood left in my brain I'm about to pass out."
Her temper spiked. "I'm not talking about my past just because it's your job to be a nosy parker."
Connor stood up and walked to his desk."Now we've had our Kodak moment - and established the fact that you know how to cry like a girl, "he said lightly.
I loved the secondary characters - Connor and Daisy and I am definitely going to read their story next.
Great story.

Juno hopes to reunite her best friend’s fiance with his estranged brother, Hollywood star Mac Brody. But her efforts have unexpected consequences: Mac does reluctantly come to the wedding, but mainly to see her. Juno has cut herself off from men and relationships after a bad experience when she was sixteen, and Mac has some painful secrets of his own, but somehow they are drawn together.
For the first 3/4 of the story, this was a decent read. Mac is a category hero type that appeals to me: the kind who falls in love without realizing it and finds himself acting completely out of character. Also, sexy Irish speech patterns! The style was comfortably in category romance territory, yet dodged some seemingly inevitable cliches and seemed to have a refreshingly modern outlook towards issues like birth control and safe sex.
Then the secret baby plot popped up and it all went downhill fast: cliched, reactionary, aggravatingly misinformed and morally repugnant.

I really enjoyed this story. We have all heard of love at first sight, but what about chemistry at first sight? … Handsome actor Mac Brody, and shop girl Juno shared a hot and steamy kiss at the airport minutes after meeting one another. Sure Mac was trying to avoid paparazzi, so he kissed Juno to hide from the cameras. What he was not expecting is how that one kiss would make him feel. I loved the banter between Juno, and mac. I also enjoyed reading about Mac, and his brother Connor making up after years of not talking to one another. This book gave us a glimpse of several hearts being healed. I love books like this this one. It offered steamy romance. It had a plot that you could get into, and the character’s pulled me right into the story.
Sample from chapter 2 – How could she have been so reckless and irresponsible? How could she have made such a mess of things? She rubbed her cheek where Brody’s stubble had stung. She knew exactly how. As soon as he’d looked at her, as soon as his lips had touched hers, all common sense and her good intentions had been burned to cinders in a blast of pure unadulterated pleasure. Kissing him had been like falling into a sunbeam, making every single cell in body explode with rapture. But how could her body have picked him, of all the people, to respond to with such fervor?
Sample from chapter 9 – Okay, she couldn’t deny the thrill that had made all her nerve endings tingle when he’d stalked into the study. His charismatic presence had sucked all the oxygen out of the small room as soon as daisy had excused herself to give them a little privacy. She’d been overjoyed to see him and pathetically flattered that he’d followed her all the way from France.
Sample from chapter 19 – Connor lived right next door to the woman who he had just this second admitted to himself meant more to him than breathing. This had to be fate finally doing him a favor, surely.

Give me a Hollywood story anytime, and I am settled with a book! Loved this one, how two people with such broken pasts discover love!

3.5 stars. A well written and entertaining M & B romance. I liked both Mac and Juno and their story kept me interested. The one thing I hated was the title - LOL (Read via Kobo as part of the box set:- P.S. I'm Pregnant)

That's A Wrap......d;)
I liked this story. The h was strong and feisty, the H was a good guy. They treated each other well and you felt their romance bloom. I didn't really get the conflict between the brothers, or that it would last so long, but it didn't really take away from the story. On a side note; the author did a good job of convincing me that the H was Irish..... as I read the hero's dialogue, I heard his Irish accent. Quick easy and entertaining read.......d:)

I liked this book maybe not as much as others I have read by the author. Mac and Juno were lovely characters that kept me turning the pages. I loved that both had a past that was tragic but they grew from even though it still effected each of them greatly. The story progressed at a nice rate and ended with a great epilogue.

London shopgirl falls for a movie star with a traumatic past; he falls for her, knocks her up, you know the drill as this was previously a Harlequin Presents. Which I generally don't go for, but this was free and it wasn't too bad.

Read this in 2011.
The heroine went through quite and ordeal in her life and the hero didn't really help matter unfortunately. By the end of the novel it was better but it must of been terribly hard on the heroine.

Not normally the kind of book I would read, but the premise sounded interesting, so I took a chance. It was better than I thought. Something about a hunky hollywood star meets normal chick and falls in love just appeals to me and my fangirl fantasies. :P

A fun upbeat story.

This is a typical harlequin ridiculous story. Prepare to force yourself to believe. Lol. As others have noted, heroine, Juno, somehow figures out the flight schedule of Mac Brody, a Hollywood A lister and estranged brother to her bestie’s fiancée.
She’s described as very ordinary looking shop girl while he’s a successful Hollywood hottie...both with unbelievable pasts...
Mac arrives at the Heathrow airport and Juno runs up to invite him to the wedding he formally declined because you know some strange plain Jane woman he’s never met will convince him to go to a wedding he’s declined...umm. Nope. And that he declined makes her pout and act like he’s an ass...no, grown women don’t...yet, he is so captivated by this plain shop girl he has to kiss her. Wait, what?
No one sees them or takes a photo in this very public place...um not likely but ok...it gets even more unbelievable...he can’t get her or their kiss out of his head.....um...no way lol...but ok....so he goes to the wedding of his brother just to pursue her...ummm what?
Then they are seen kissing in relative privacy and paparazzi swarm...Mac decides to take her to his in the US home rather than issuing a press release? Wait what? And they play house for less than two weeks where they fall madly in love telling their deepest secrets and have unprotected sex and he gets her pregnant...screech halt! This is a fertile myrtle. Sex twice in her life and pregnant both times...shoot me. Lol. Anyway, he realizes he wants the baby (a total 180) and rushes to her side...he’s so co dependent he can’t sleep a night without her...It’s fantastical...🤦♀️

My first Mills and Boon. I had always wanted to read a Mills and Boon so I could see what the fuss was about. I happened to pick this one up for free so I decided to give it a go. The story is very fast paced. The sex scenes weren't as good as I was expecting. The romance is very much a fairytale. So very forgettable but I think that is the point. I might read more in the future when I am in a fairytale romance mood.

Do not invest my time and money into romance novels where the heroine is sexually assaulted and abused. As in this book, where heroine gets raped at 16 years of age, gets pregnant and has a miscarriage. I do not mind heroine having some previous baggage but not sexual assault or previous sexual partners.

It was ok, I liked that were together for most of book and that hero pursued heroine and that he never left her(she left him everytime). He didn't really do anything wrong or to be mad about, neither did heroine really. They just didn't communicate that well. P.

This was not great. The dude was an asshole at just the wrong time for too long in a way that I can't get past. I liked the woman, but she's an idiot and I can't respect her choices.
