Demon Reign is DW Sheneman’s debut novel and is the first book in the Apocalypse Prophecy series. It does end on a cliffhanger, but that just pumps you up for book 2. It has major Inuyasha vibes. I loved Dagon’s unapologetic attitude and crudeness.
Spice level (1-5): 🌶️🌶️🌶️
Jazzera has trained as a priestess with very strict rules since she was a child. She was born with a mark that distinguishes her from the other priestesses. She wants to be like the others and goes to capture her own demon to control. Instead of catching a low level demon, she catches a Demon Lord named Dagon. Little did she know that catching Dagon would turn her life upside down. He challenges everything she was told to believe. When the temple is attacked by demons, Jazzera, Dagon and Ermek, her Demon Slayer that has sworn to protect her, go on a journey to attempt to send all demons back to Hell. Once that happens Dagon wouldn’t be able to stay in the mortal realm. Can Jazzera continue with their plan even if it means loosing the demon she’s starting to love?
I would recommend Demon Reign to anyone who enjoys a good demon romance with a dystopian setting. This book does contain some MM action on page and off. If that’s not your cup of tea you can skip those bits. Read the trigger warnings. This book does contain misogyny, mentions of s assault, attempted assault, gore, etc. To fans of demon romances with an oriental feel, this one is for you!
Warning: Reading Demon Reign may make you grateful you live in the 21st century. May make you want to capture your own Demon Lord. May make you not like the color red. May make you want to go to the Heathen country. May make you want Dagon as your BBF. May make you cautious of who you befriend. May make you open your eyes to the truth in front of your face. May make you want to go on an adventure with a hot demon. Read responsibly.
