This story is very eager to dish out the adventures, kind of like a puppy so excited for breakfast that he piddles all the way to the food bowl. I ditched out early. My tolerance for piddling puppies is very low, what can I say?
Do I feel bad giving this one star? Maybe a little. Okay, not really. If eager violence and surface descriptions and heroic mundanities are your thing, I won't judge. Much.
There is just something about the protagonist that rubs me the wrong way. He tries to be a hero, but it's very annoying to me.
I don't think I will be continuing this series unless things change. I don't like stupid writing or protagonists.
The damn protag has a hero complex and the story is shit for it.
I am not continuing the series. There are a bunch of plotholes and inconsistencies within the story. Then the protag leaves an enemy to grow stronger to threaten him later.
I didn't even enjoy the premise (people kidnapped and put through death games) because the protagonist was so stupid.
Okay now he saves his enemy from death. I hate these whiteknight types. My score has really dropped now.
More annoying than interesting, lazy would be the best description for this book, not lazy as in plot hole bigger than Jupiter, more like too straight forward, the mc has hero complex, I like that, it's more common than people would imagine, problem comes from the fact that only the mc is competent, and every other competent person is a "bad" person, u know, the super competent villan cliche, then there is the system, the system in the other book by this writer was awesome, since it was about the adventure and not about the system, here the system is needlessly emphasised in all the wrong ways, from useless prompts to needless viciousness that break the flow rather than help it, as a super fan of litrpg, I do not like this book, and the "participating in a death game is with no knowledge of anything" is just such a bad trope, I think this is the biggest reason for books like defiance of the fall is such a good one, since it defines the rules and then let's u go have fun, here the system is extremely limiting and all the villan characters will have some exploit non-sence while not even close to being truly competent.
I really didn't like this story. The story itself isn't bad, and if I liked stories where brutality was the word of the day, then I'd probably enjoy this book, but that's just not my style. I give it three stars, only because I know my personal preference of content isn't a reflection on the quality of the story. I'd actually rate it with 2 and a half stars, because while the story itself works, there were too many places where the story broke its own rules, and that bothers me more than most other things that happen in stories. I'm not likely to continue with this series, though it's possible I'll read another book some time in the future, after I've spent a while forgetting just how much I didn't really like this one.
Asher had one thing in mind to get home and hang out with his dog. But he was derailed and he ended up in a surreal situation. His first week in the Nexus changed his mind about things. People don't want to help each other. His grandfather had taught him to save people its the honorable thing. So when it comes to the Nexus Game he will not endanger anyone. The game is brutal and the rewards are many. How will everyone else behave?
This book was fun, interesting, action packed and full of excitement. It’s a great book for both people new litrpg fans and those who are veterans in the genre. The characters are well written with an awesome premise, I can’t wait for the next book in the series because this was just awesome
I liked the potential of where this story is going. I enjoyed the world building and the system is easy enough to follow. I am interested in seeing what else is in store of the MC in the next book
Will say this is a very interesting book. The world is more linear then most litrpg books but it works. The mixture of the game people interacting makes it a great book
This book was awesome. Clean. Minimum errors and the pacing kept me going until the end. Lost some sleep but it was worth it. Excited for the next book
