Samara and Cole's story was fire, but THIS - this story for Magnus and Sigrid is VOLCANIC! Whew - this was more than I expected and that cliffhanger had me screaming!! With orcs, humans, deviants, sirens, mages, elves and more, how could you go wrong?! Hunt brings more action, political intrigue, magic, monsters, justice, and steamy romance to life in this third book of the Wanders of Ruin Series! Magnus is an attractive brute of a man who has issues that run deep and a desire for more. Sigrid is the apothecary smart and beautiful fmc with a secret to keep safe to protect all that she cares for. Enemies to lovers, well written, great world-building, multi-pov, single timeline and a massive cliffhanger to leave you wanting more - I seriously can't wait for the next book!

This is the third book of the Wanderers of Ruin series, and book one of the Runes of Sorrow Duet within that series. It follows one of the non-main characters from the first two books, and a new character. This could be read without reading the first two books in the series but it would spoil those books. Tropes include slowburn, found family, a badass but brainy FMC, banter and secrets. Do check trigger warnings before reading, and this is an adults only book.

The Lovely: I will admit to being apprehensive before starting this book because I knew it focused on different characters and I loved the main characters from the first two books so much. I had no reason to be apprehensive. I fell in love with the main characters quickly as the story progressed and am now emotionally invested. Sigurd is more than she seems and I liked her analytical and logical nature. The MMC is, well, him. Flirty to a fault and king of sabotaging himself. However, under that facade you can see he cares deeply and is driven to protect. Their relationship is slow to grow and messy to the point my heart hurt for them.

Also Lovely: The plot, pacing, and tension were solid and engaging - I read this book in one evening. I’m always amazed at how much story this author can put in a relatively short book, and it never feels rushed. The ending is a cliffhanger, but not major.

Rating: 5/5 Stars. 2/5 Flames.

Recommendation: Thank you to the author for providing this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own. This story may have been a relatively quick read but it had me feeling all the feels around the main characters. You will get sucked into this world and just devour the series. My heart is already aching for the next book. If you love romantasy with a couple that is trying to figure out where they stand and what they want, and/or you want a quicker read, this series is for you.

This was a lot of fun. I just noticed that I recently read another book by this authors and really enjoyed. I didn’t read the first two book duet. I jumped straight to this one and didn’t know that I would have a follow up.

The story follows Sigrid, who is an apothecary but also really intelligent and capable with rune magic and how her life got connected with Magnus, who is the King’s Commander, a womanizer, and we see that he has some kind of emotion healing to work (unable to trust being in a relationship due to some past trauma).

The story picks up a mystery in which Sigrid is asked to assist. I hate to cause spoilers because there are little things that are so much more fun to just go though the experience. Sigrid and Magnus are attracted to each other and, at the same time, can’t seem to fully open to each other yet and embrace their feelings.
I look forward to the next book because things just ended very much exploding on this one.

DNF at 36%, didn't hold my attention.
Contrary to reviews, this CANNOT be read as a standalone. It starts like you're already in the middle. It relies heavily on previous attachement to characters. I wanted to read more from this author after The dark lord's guide to dating and this is her highest rated one but it's not intriguing enough for me to go back to the beginning of the series.
2✨️ because i have no issues with the writing.

Excellent sequal

Wow! What a difference this book is to the previous 2. It's written as dual POV, which I personally prefer. It's a lot shorter than the other 2 with no fluffy time fillers, which makes a huge difference to the flow. I really liked these 2 characters and storyline. What a cliffhanger!

CLIFF HANGER!!!

Such a good continuation of the series. I was really getting into this book and then it ended on a cliff hanger. I cannot wait to read the next in this series.

Ends with a cliffhanger. Cute humorous story with lots of snark and innuendos. Interesting enough to have me off to getting book two in the series.

Hide yo kids, hide yo wife — there’s a serial rapist on the loose, and bookish apothecary/secret magic vigilante Sigrid is determined to bring him to justice.

She and lovable, goofy blond warrior dude Magnus forge an unlikely friendship-turned-romantic-relationship(?) as they try to solve two mysteries: who is behind the serial rapes and who is casting mysterious rune curses on the orcs’ lands.

If there’s one thing Tiffany Hunt does well, it’s writing witty, flirty banter between protagonists and capturing how they’re feeling about each other in their heads. Right from the beginning, I was laughing at Sigrid’s and Magnus’s hilarious, yet flirty interactions. There was a great buildup throughout the book in terms of how they feel about each other.

Both Sigrid and Magnus were great protagonists. It was refreshing to have the romantic leads be in their 30s. Not that that’s old, but it’s nice to have main characters that aren’t naive 20-year-olds. Sigrid gives strong Hermione Granger vibes (smart, bookish, good at potions), and you can’t help but love Magnus, the lord protector who feels unworthy of his title and just wants to be loved.

While this is technically a standalone/spinoff book, I’d definitely recommend reading the first two “Wanderers of Ruin” books before reading this one, just to get a better grasp on the world building. It feels like that context is needed to really understand what’s going on (e.g. who Moredanea and the Harrow are, what happened before the king claimed his throne, etc.).

My only complaint about this book is that it’s too short. There was a lot of build-up toward the journey to the orc lands, but the journey never happened (and the book ended on a cliffhanger). However, I do feel the buildup was somewhat necessary to establish the relationship between Magnus and Sigrid.

Overall I really liked the book and can’t wait for the next one, especially after the cliffhanger ending! This series would be great for fans of stuff like Charissa Weaks’ Witch Walker series, Sarah J. Maas, or other romantasy books.

After reading (and loving) the first two books in the Wanders of Ruin series I RAN at the opportunity to read this one. To say I was disappointed would be putting in blandly. Did the writing style change between books 1/2 and book 3? No, but I felt a difference all the same.

Sigrid is a (secret) magic-wielding apothecary that feels it is her duty to help keep the streets safe. Since the time of the Harrow being in control, she has used her magic to protect the people. Now that the rightful King has taken his place however, there isn't much Sigrid needs to do. That is, until a serial rapist starts attacking young women in the night. With her best friend's safety on the line, what will Sigrid do to bring down the Monster of Ironset?

Magnus is a half-giant that doesn't feel like he really fits in. He rents a room from Sigrid and not-so-quickly realizes he has feelings for her. When she is targeted by a band of thieves, Magnus gets her to move to the castle for her safety.

Where this story fell short for me was that I didn't really know what the plot was until about halfway through, and even then it was questionable. The conflict with the rapist is clearly integrated throughout the book, so I'm assuming that is the main plot for this book. Alongside that however is the plot about the runes and traveling to Varok'Nar. Why was this there? Was it to introduce the runic magic side of Sigrid? Will it be the major conflict for the next book? It just felt disjointed and left me confused. Also, the supposed "cliffhanger" ending. I'm sorry, but I didn't see it that way. A good cliffhanger still feels like the initial story has ended and it set up for the next one. This one feels like she just stopped in the middle of a chapter and said "that's good enough." There was no real conclusion to the book at all in my opinion.

I love Sigrid and Magnus and their romance was fantastic, but the story needed more than that and it just didn't have it. Hopefully book 4 will fix some of these issues - or finish at least one of the plots from this one.

💫ARC READ💫
Okay, now I'm just sad I can't move to a cute little town, and start my own apothecary 😖

This book follows different people from the first two books, Sigrid, who runs the apothecary in town and likes to spend her nights lurking in the shadows instead of sleeping, and Magnus, who's job is trying to get in Sigrid's pants, I'm pretty sure.

It wasn't a very long book, and reads more like a novellla, a filler sort of, than a full book. The story was heavily building towards what's going to happen in the next book, so this book consisted mostly of them just preparing for the next book. It was still very enjoyable, but I would think even more so if you went into it expecting a cozy little filler, like ACOFAS in ACOTAR, and not a major adventure. They are preparing for their adventure, but I can't wait to see them actually go in the next book!

It was a super cozy, light read, and definitely one I enjoyed! I would recommend reading book one and two first, but as the author says, it can be read alone (with some spoilers for how the previous books end.) I would recommend reading the the two first, because I think the world as a whole means more then, but the calmness of the town would also be appreciated more.

It does end on a not so fun cliffhanger, thanks to how a few certain someones acted in the end, that I have serious beef with 😂

This was a great third book in the Wanderers of Ruin series. This book follows Magnus and Sigrid, as they work on forming an alliance with an enemy and deciphering the runes that have been left on their enemies doorstep. Meanwhile an attraction forms, and they work on that as well.

Well written, entertaining, mid spice, but full of action, this book was a great read. I really enjoy Hunt’s writing style and the world she’s created in this exciting fantasy series. Totally recommend if you like entertaining, action packed fantasy series with spice!

I received an advance reader copy from the author, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

When I tell you I was SO excited to see that this book was available to read I jumped on it!

If you’re looking for a quick read with great characters and a bit of suspense this is for you! I was nervous at first how I would feel since it wasn’t the main characters from the past two books but I was not disappointed! This story pulls you in and is building to what I think will be a fantastic next book! I didn’t want to put it down and finished it in a day.

I’m mad at someone in the end (lol) but excited to see where it goes from here!
