Storm Moon Shifters #1

Storm Moon Rising

Rate this book
Shifters are dying. It’s time to hunt.Wolf shifters fight hard, and play harder, and no one does this better than Maverick Hale, the Alpha of the Storm Moon Pack in London.

However, when one of his team is found dead in his club, he needs answers—fast.

All the evidence suggests a shifter from another pack has killed him, but when other packs across England report deaths, too, he knows that something far darker is happening.

Someone, or something, is coming after the shifters.

Packs normally keep to themselves, but that has to change if they’re to uncover the truth. Maverick is determined to bring the killer to justice, but he knows his team will need help. Hunter, a headstrong shifter from the Cumbrian pack who feels he has nothing to lose, joins the search.

But nothing is at it seems. The more they uncover, the darker the twists become.

If you love shifter paranormal mysteries that are low on romance, but filled with non-stop action, great characters, lots of English banter, and plenty of magic, you’ll love the latest urban fantasy series by TJ Green.

I'm a writer, a pagan, and a witch, and consequently love all things magical. I write fictional books about witchcraft and the paranormal, and they are jam-packed with fabulous characters, colourful settings, plenty of action, and lots of humour.

I was born in England, in the Black Country, but moved to New Zealand in 2006. I lived near Wellington with my partner Jase, and my cats Sacha and Leia. However, in April 2022 we moved again! Yes, I like making my life complicated… I’m now living in the Algarve in Portugal, and loving the fabulous weather and people. When I’m not busy writing I read lots, indulge in gardening and shopping, and I love yoga.

Confession time! I’m a Star Trek geek – old and new – and love urban fantasy and detective shows. Secret passion – Columbo! Favourite Star Trek film is the Wrath of Khan, the original! Other top films – Predator, the original, and Aliens.

In a previous life I was a singer in a band, and used to do some acting with a theatre company. For more on me, check out a couple of my blog posts. I have also written a blog about how I finally became comfortable about calling myself a witch. It's called Leaning into my Witch.

Keeping secrets can get one killed, which is exactly what happened to Kane, killed
in what looks like in cold blood, leaving his pack completely befuddled as to why. But the pack discovers there were a spate of murder, other members of Kane's family also found dead and shifters from other packs throughout the country too. Trying to solve one murder just got a whole lot more complicated. The only thing they know for certain is that a shifter killed all these people, but which one and how they are related, what the common denominator is, is a mystery. It leads them on a country wide search for answers, sweeping me along for the ride. And what a ride!

We get to meet the Storm Moon Pack and affiliates, who are uniquely different.I loved the full cast of characters, all with distinct personalities and all working together to try and find the killer or killers. And a theft of ancient artefacts has them even more befuddled, leading to even more secrets as they try to join the dots. What they uncover is steeped in lore and myths, an ancient Wolf King, his ancient Witch Queen, a magical Crown and a box of relics. Oh and let's not forget, there's a curse, yep, a really awful curse. The array of characters is impressive, humans, Shifters, Witches, Puca's, who I surprisingly felt sorry for, and Thelians, who I DIDN'T feel anything but anger and disgust for!

I love Maggie, a very fierce, very no nonsense, very human cop. In fact, there are a few humans helping out the shifters, Harlan being one of them. It was almost comical, his attempt to explain to the shifters how myth and the truth can converge, except this conversation could be deadly. They rally together to find the crown and box, before it's too late, before they all fall under the thumb and rule of a very ambitious someone. Seriously, that's the danger, the danger of being subjugated, of having no choice other than to bow down to the whims of an ultimate Alpha. Heck, who'd be crazy enough to allow that to happen?

I loved the witches, so snarky and so cool, that's a trademark of this author, her witches are so uniquely wonderful. These 3, Odette, Morgana and Birdie are just delightful. I loved the romantic tension between Odette and Arno, once a sort of couple, but it was easy to see they still cared. It's uncertain if their romance will be rekindled but what is certain, is sheer excitement of this story. The plot is strong and intricate, always moving forward in a well thought out manner, veering one way, then the next, keeping the thrill active throughout. I'm really looking forward to the next book, gotta see where it's going...

Kane, a wolf-shifter is killed right in the middle of the club in Wimbledon, London owned by the pack alpha Maverick Hale amidst heavy security and full of clients both shifters and humans. Inspector Detective Maggie Milne had to be called in as she heads the paranormal division in London and it turned out that Kane was not the only shifter found dead. Kane's family were in Cambria, part of another pack so they had to be informed and many shifter packs held meetings in order to get to the bottom of this mystery. All of Kane's family were killed before they could get to warn them and soon all their lives turned into a nightmare. Kane had been a best friend of Maverick and he was out for vengeance and though usually the different packs kept to themselves as the mystery intensified they knew they had to work together to stop the murders. Even the witches were called in even though Maverick did not like them. Therians and Puca were involved and they were deadly even for wolf-shifters, as they were fae but what were they doing in London? This book is quite dark, full of intrigue, mystery and twists and turns to the story which kept me fully engrossed till the end. It is a really good start to a new series.

Storm Moon Rising - what a start to a new series. Action packed paranormal book set in shifters community. Book full of turns and twists packed with action with small dose of witchcraft guarantees great reading. As with all other books by TJ Green this is just a masterpiece and definitely another one difficult to put down. If you are a fan of TJ Green you will welcome return of some friends from her other books and get to know them better and in different surroundings. There is plenty of new, exiting, intriguing, funny and interesting characters. As always, there is magic and mystery, crime and friendship, myths and legends and lots and lots of action.
What a start to new series- can’t wait for another one.

Really excited about this new series and was not disappointed.

The Storm Moon Wolves - wow, would like to meet them IRL - Maverick, Domino, Vlad, Mads, Arlo, and Grey - can't wait to learn more about them all.

Wonderful, intricate story blending myth and reality was so amazing to read I finished the book in 2 days and was gripped all the way through as I couldn't wait to get to the end.

The combination of the Storm Moon Wolves, and the other Wolf Packs, the Moonfell Witches, The Orphic Guild, and the Paranormal Policing Team make formidable opponents in the final showdown and again, can't wait to learn more about all of them. I could live in this world.

A great start to this new series set in the world of the White Haven Witches and the Hunters. Centred around Maverick Hale and his Storm Moon pack in London, this first book sees a slew of shifter deaths across the country and the search for the killer or killers. We meet some of the other packs across the county including the Cumbrian pack and Hunter, Briar’s ex, as well as other old friends and make some new ones too. The story is epic, with truth, lies, myths and legends. The battles are viscous and it’s never really clear who the true foe is until the very end. Well Done TJ, a brilliant start.

I’ve just finished! I enjoyed this very much. The book , I think begins slowly, but as promised it builds, and builds to a fantastical action packed all out battle.
I thoroughly enjoyed the weaving of Welsh legends and their characters into the plot - in fact I’ve never come across Taliesin in any other books I’ve read.
It’s full of so many emotions, it will take you on a rollercoaster, lift you up, make you sad, send your imagination into overdrive and leave you breathless at the end.
Save an entire day or weekend for reading, you won’t want to put it down!

I’m a huge fan of TJ Green’s White Haven Witches series, even more so the spin off White Haven Hunters.
I wasn’t as excited with the prospect of the shifters spin off.
I was completely surprised, absolutely loved it.
The author creates great characters whom you get to know and love or hate from the off.
Her stories involving the paranormal are fascinating, it was the same for Storm Moon Rising.
An intriguing mystery that has you gripped from the start.
The research of the myths for these stories must be very in-depth and exciting.

Very happy there is another series to follow.

This first volume of a new series by one of my favorite authors gets the new story off to a great start. The plot focuses on a pack of shifters (formerly known as werewolves.) There are shifters and other creatures in the series that Van transform into other animals, but so far the main cast in the series are all wolf shifters. There are a few cool witches and humans involved withe them also. their home base is a nightclub in Wimbledon. I very much look forward to their future adventures, and hope the Moonfell Witches will get and origin/contemporary series of their own.

Riveting. Mesmerizing. Brilliant!

Another job well done! Another family to love!? The shifters could almost be as amazing as the Nephilim, who might be as amazing as the Witches.

I can't wait to see what other paranormal creatures come out of the woodwork. I realize and understand these books are not about romance, but man, there is plenty of heat on the horizon!

I know two that had better figure it out! Freedom is not always what it is cracked up to be!

Moving on to book 2!!!

Storm Moon Rising is an exciting start to a great new series. The interweaving of old and new characters makes for an easy introduction into a new storyline. The twist and turns of the story keep you wanting to read more. Even though it’s the start of new series, you feel like it is just a continuation of the world that you enter every time you pick up one of TJ Green’s books. Can’t wait for the next book in the series.

Really excited about this new series and was not disappointed. It begins slowly and builds to a fantastical action packed battle.
I loved meeting all the new characters and getting to know some of the familiar characters a little more.
It was nice to move away from witchcraft and treasure hunting, and I really enjoyed the weaving of Welsh legends.
TJ Green has done it again. I can’t wait for the next one in the series.

Brilliant read!

I was so looking forwards to this book, it didn’t disappoint! Fast moving, set in multiple areas of the country shifter packs are trying to find out who and why their brothers and friends are being killed. The story brings new characters, with some familiar ones from Tj’s other series joining together to try and bring peace to all the shifter packs!
Tj Green I applaud 👏your research, imagination and brilliant writing skills, thank you for producing my favourite books ever!!

I wasn't sure if I would like this series as much as the White Haven Witches but I was wrong! I may even like this more! Really difficult to put down as the story moved quickly. Good to have some familiar characters in there too.
The only criticism is that the ending felt a little rushed and lacked the detail of the rest of the book.
Overall a great read and I cannot wait for the 2nd book to launch in the series!

TJ has done it again. The story is fantastic and kept me hooked until the very end. I’m looking forward to many more visits to the storm moon pack and their friends.
It was lovely reading about the crossover characters from TJ’s other wonderful series, just like visiting with friends. I’m such a big fan of White Haven with its witches, fae and nephillim too.
If you’re a fan of this genre give any of TJ’s books a try and you won’t be disappointed.

An amazing piece of writing, majestic work on world-building, and character development, a fabulous use of myths, legends and folklore from the Irish, and Welsh collections.

A fantastic debut for the series, and a truly unique story with crossover of the white haven witches, and moonfell witches characters, blending them together in a very interesting way.

A bonding between all her characters creating a five-star novel.

Wow! This story grabs you by the throat and doesn't let go until the end. TJ Green's description of the wolves had me with a clear picture in my mind. They are so big and ferocious that I don't think that I would ever want to come face to snout with one of them.

I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily left a honest review.

Excellent start to the series.
Maverick Hale is the alpha owner of the Blood Moon in Wimbledon, London. This club is home to his pack and open to humans and shifters. There is a group of therians, those who could shift into any animal, in London. They kill Kane one of Maverick's pack and the never dull story gets very interesting.
I received this as an ARC and enjoyed reading it.

Great start to a new series

Shifters and witches and fae, oh my! TJ Greene has started a second spinoff series from White Haven, this one about wolf shifters and the other shifters in London. There's crossover characters from the other books as well as lots of new cast characters, and lots of room for sequels. I'm looking forward to the next installment.

Brilliant

I've left the shifter books to the last. I love the White Haven witches, the shadow hunters and the new Moon fell witches and this book has not disappointed me. With a mix of characters we already know in Harlan, Maggie and Hunter with new characters briefly mentioned it was like coming home.
Can't wait to start the next book

3.75 stars...this was the start of  an enjoyable shifter series and I will probably continue on at a later date. There's murder, mayhem, a heist, and an air of mystery. Lots of supernatural creatures/shifters, looking for the murdered of a pack member, looking for stolen relics and some explosions. Yeah I would recommend this if you enjoy shifter stories.
