The girl can’t help herself…until she helps herself to a triple-hot fantasy.
Playing With Fire, Book 2
Always wanting what she can’t have. Scarlett learned this the hard way, and this time is no different. Drake, the one guy she’s hot for, isn’t hot for her. Nope, he’s hot for Trevor, the gorgeous, arrogant actor she works with. Maybe it’s time she let loose and let the right man capture her, for a change.
Trevor wonders why she can’t see that the right man is right under her nose. He’s crushing big time on the quirky, sexually confident Scarlett—a huge turn-on for a guy who’s not your standard looking-for-vanilla-sex kind of guy.
When an argument with Trevor explodes into the hottest sex of her life, Scarlett thinks nothing has ever felt so right—until Drake joins in and kicks it into white-hot gear. Trevor is astounded that she trusts him enough to make her three-way happen for her. But suddenly he’s not so sure he wants to share…
USA Today bestselling author Karen Erickson lives in central California with her family. Being a romance writer and bringing her characters to life is her greatest dream come true.
She also writes as NYT & USA Today bestselling author Monica Murphy.
Scarlett has a crush on Drake. Drake has a crush on Trevor. Trevor has a crush on Scarlett, but she hates him. See the problem?
Scarlett decides at one last rouse to make Drake notice her while at the voyeur club the group of friends frequent. Trevor finds her first and does sweet somethings to her in a private room. Scarlett freaks because she can't believe the bane of her existence has made her feel the way she did, so she bolts. Drake finds Trevor shortly after and they do sweet, sweet somethings to each other, but Trevor isn't done with his pursuit for Scarlett yet.
Trevor ignores Drake for the next week while seeking out Scarlett. Trevor and Scarlet go out for dinner and things heat up from there. Scarlett knows Trevor likes to dabble with the man-bits occasionally, so she sets up an interesting situation to happen between the three of them with Drake. He's all gung-ho.
After the night of the amazing DP, man-secks and multi-lovin', Scarlett and Trevor realize they've fallen in love but can't tell one another. Trevor goes to NY for an audition and Scarlett wigs out because she wants to go with if he gets it but isn't sure how Trevor wants her to. He does, but since these kind of people are such great communicators - she has no clue. She goes ape-shit after hearing he gets the part, totally raining on his parade and basically tells him to beat it. Luckily Trevor says yeah right and finds her as soon as he returns and HEA.
Ok, I liked the story. It was cute. I liked Scarlett, but thought she needed to be more sure of herself. Trevor was cool, I'd hit it. I liked his personality and kinks.

After almost four years from reading this, I still have the same feedback.
*************************************************************** I should have read the series according to order because each book is somewhat a buildup for the finale book 4 "Notorious", even though it can be read as standalone.
This is alright for me... the story? not much (compared to book 3 and book 4).
Erotica comes in all types... both in the characters and the quality. This one is extremely well-plotted and well-written, with more than enough story to carry the intense sex scenes.
This is menage done right. Erickson knows exactly what she's doing with this novella-length story: The plot isn't too complicated for length, the set-up is simple and the sex is off-the-charts hot. The chemistry between
Summary: Two native have members with supernatural gifts. Liz is one of the best healers of hers, but her gifts are being used in a war against the other tribe by her ex-lover and tribe leader Carreon. She's kidnapped by rival clan leader Zeke, who wants her to heal his brother, and whose prescience has shown Carreon killing her. Once Jacob is healed, however, both he and Zeke want to keep Liz, no matter the danger.
One and half stars. Weaker than the previous book. The characters were unlikable, the story dull and the sex robotic. All of the sex scenes entail Trevor ordering his other lover's from one position to another. Is this supposed to be hot? How many times can you read Trevor ordering one of his lovers to "Suck my cock."?
Like the last book this is about sexual experimentation on the way to happily ever traditional monogamy. The editing was exceptional poor, with endless jarring phrases that didn't sound like they could have been written by a native speaker of English. I found little to enjoy and mostly skimmed. I doubt I will pick up anything else by this author.
Scarlet has the hots for Drake. Drake doesn't know she exists, he wants Trevor. They all work together. She dresses up to try and coax a response from the target of her affections when she bumps into Trevor.
Trevor sees her plenty and is more than ready to pay attention to the little bomb shell. When he's rebuffed he decides to spend the night with Drake who's been trying to get his attention. What...?
Trevor and Scarlet finally do get together with Drake as a third?
While the sex is good, I couldn't get around the story line.
You really can't go wrong with a Karen Erickson story. Though I didn't like this one as much as the 1st book in the series or Spontaneous, I still enjoyed it. I love how she makes these types of scenarios seem realistic. Not many authors could pull that off.
She is my "go to" when I need something to read and I'm not willing to try a new author. No guessing. You know a Karen Erickson story will be good.

I bought this a long time ago and have finally gotten to reading it...boy, I wish I could have that hour of my life back.
Scarlett is everything that I hate about women in novels. Absolutely nothing about her is likeable yet she has a man begging her to be with him. I get so annoyed by the idea that strong seems to be synonymous with raging bitch.
Really couldn't get into this book! It was like just one giant corny porn fest. I struggled to finish it to be honest, which is a shame because I love Monica Murphys work! Maybe because her work as Monica has more depth and this book lacked that. Although it wasn't for me, that's not to say others won't enjoy it.
Another sex charged book Drake wants Trevor, Trevor wants Scarlett and Scarlett doesnt know what she wants. I think all her books deal with the woman not knowning her place in life and and use sex to get them there with these adventurous men. Its a quick read good for sex!
I tried liking this book- but I was annoyed by the H/h. I really tried liking these books because they were getting great reviews. Maybe I just wasn't in the mood.
Quick easy read. I was disappointed by the lack of story and plot. It was very predictable and non-thrilling. Though it is erotica and does fulfill the genre.
