Forty Years in the Everglades

Rate this book
This is the best book I have ever read in regards to the Everglades and the people who really enjoy, understand, and utilize it. The author is succinct, was trucking through the Everglades from the time when only the very hardy could penetrate deeply into the swath into the modern age of swamp buggies. Also gives us real insight as to the animal life and folks who lived on the edge of the great swamp.

This book that makes you feel like you are actually exploring and tromping through the swamps in the Everglades with the author. He describes how as a non-outdoor person he started doing discovery trips into the Everglades and what he encountered.

A must-read for any Florida person, or someone interested in the outdoors or Everglades. I bought my copy in the national park bookstore in the mid 1980's. Hope folks can still find it somewhere.

Since I grew up, living next to the Everglades, and my many years exploring the same areas, I really related to this book. I have reread the book many times.
