This is an excellent book written for a general audience who are interested in x-ray astronomy. The author explains details behind x-ray satellites and x-ray astronomy in a clear and concise manner that didn't send my head reeling. I get lost in the over reliance of scientific jargon so often found in other tombs, which I seldom finish. I read this book through to the end and learned how x-ray astronomy has developed through the various satellites. The writing style is causal, and friendly, which I appreciate given the author is a professional scientist. I feel I've learned about stars and star clouds and other mysteries of the universe without pain, almost as though we were having an enjoyable conversation.
This is a good book, but after reading and doing astronomy all day and night long, I rarely find myself reaching for astronomy pleasure reading. Putting it back on the "to-read" shelf for the time being.
