How much trouble can a bake sale cause?

It’s Christmas time and the islanders are ripe for celebrating, yet amongst the nativity plays, mince pies and tinsel, all is not well in the parish of Wesberry.

Reverent Jess has a major life event for which she ought to be preparing, yet finds herself mediating when a friendly competition between the local girl guides and boy scouts turns into outright rivalry. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg!

To a backdrop of holiday season drama, a local mystic vanishes, and worrying reports of a ghostly nun arise. The clock is ticking down to Midnight Mass, so at a time when heaven and earth could not be closer, can Jess pull off a miracle?

Wow this one packed a punch , very well written with a few threads to gather thrown in the pot of clues , a few twists along the way ( not Jess’s ankle this time ) and Wesberrey looks all loved up in this instalment too with the Wedding looming Boxing Day . Where’s Muriel is she alive or dead ? What of Tilly? Ernest and Tom? This and more threads to pick up from where they left off in Sacred Slaying . Absolutely great series with the Vicar soon to be changing her name . Fast paced story and a can’t put down laugh out loud with dark undertones . Brilliant! Another Hit for sure for Penelope Cress and Steve Higgs .

I received an advance copy of this book and my review is my own words voluntary written

Christmas with a Boxing Day bonus!
It's busy, busy, busy for Jess and her clan as Christmas is fast approaching and she has to have her Christmas sermon ready to go because the very next day is her wedding day! And don't you know it?!? Mystic Muriel has to go missing right now!!! What's a sleuthing parish priest to do?!? Well, she's going to roll up her sleeves and get on with it, that's what! She needs this all wrapped up with a pretty bow so she can relax and get married already!

A fitting ending to a wonderful series! This was everything I was hoping for, another fantastic mystery, a HEA and a chance for more stories and mysteries to come. The characters of Wesberry are so unique and realistic, it's sad to say goodbye but also nice to know what they will all get up to next. The whole series was a lovely journey and I loved that I could never work out 'who dunnit' before Jessamy!

Jess and Lawrence marry!

Jess and Lawrence get married in a lovely Boxing Day wedding, but not until after Jess’s usual mystery and mayhem.

I found the mystery of the missing Muriel to be rather confusing. Then another body is found in a field but that was presumably a natural death and nothing comes of it.

I look forward to seeing how Jess enjoys married life in the next book and how they take the Tabitha storyline.

There's a lot of excitement in the air, Christmas is near, and it's also almost Jess's wedding day but there is someone missing, and conflict between Boy Scouts and Girls Guides keeps on blowing up demanding Jess's attention. What else could happen, just be sure, there'll be more! Another fun and easy read in this great series!

The good news is that Jessamy Ward is finally getting family, job, love, and her “powers” pretty satisfactorily settled. The bad news is that this seems like the “natural” ending of this fun series. However, I’m sure that there’s plenty more possible adventures here. Penelope Cress - are you listening?

I received an arc copy of the book.

I found this book to be not quite as good as the previous ones in this series. It was a bit confusing and I had a hard time trying to keep track of the storylines. The only part I absolutely loved was the wedding. I was afraid something would’ve upset the wedding plans. So thankful that didn’t happen. After all, if anyone deserves a happily ever after, it’s Rev Jess.

A wonderful series

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed all the books in this well written series. Relatable characters and excellent plot lines that are not immediately apparent. These books are heartwarming, humorous and a joy to read. I hope there will be more as I’m already missing the friends I’ve made on the Ie of Wesberrey.

Murder over a bake sale?

Mystic Muriel is still missing! Hellhounds and a 17th century nun come into play! The community comes together to celebrate Christmas. There is a wedding to prepare for and Jess realizes she is pretty!

Christmas, competition, family, love, wedding

This book has a warmth appropriate for Christmas. Also, I like the way Jess manages her two spiritual roles, as coming from the same source.

Excitement is in the air. It's Christmas time and nearly Jess's wedding day. But before that happens, an old friend, Mystic Muriel, has disappeared and Jess needs to find her and set her mind at ease so things can go on as planned. Then more tragedy strikes, harm coming to one of her parishioners. Such a busy time for her.
Another great Reverend Jessamyn story. I couldn't put it down. An exciting and quick read.
