Key has written four books. His most recent focuses on the lockdown of 2020. His others are collections of poems and other bits and bobs. He also does other things: stand-up comedy, acting, Alan Partridge's sidekick.
This book is not for you if you are not a Tim Key (33; poet) fan.
If you don't like his kind of comedy (funny) you will be more than lost here.
It reads as if it were Tim Key's (chubby; aging shambles) little notebook in which he writes all his ideas/poems/suggestions/guidelines/instructions, and it probably for most parts evolved from such.
It is hard to describe, really.
Each snippet of thought is dealt with in one or two, seldom 3 pages. There are descriptions, short conversations, thoughts, lists, as random as one of those squiggly drawings you make on an opened envelope from a letter the bank sent you while you're on the phone with your mum/boss/person from your cell phone company trying to make you change your tariff.
But as random as it is, it can also end up as art!
Thus is the case with Tim Key (likes Curry; has a brother)
If you are a fan it is a must-read. If you're not you'll probably find this book confusing, not to say stupid.
Hopefully I'll get my hand on his other book (25 Poems, 3 Recipes, and 32 Other Suggestions; The Invisible Dot; possibly in re-print) soon.
Tim Key is a huge inspiration to me, he’s got me in to poetry, and I read one of his poems, nearly everyday. I was so chuffed to receive this book as a gift for Christmas, as I know how hard it is to get.
It’s an odd book, but as a huge Key fan, I loved it and found it charming. Would highly recommend if you can get your hands on it!!
