He’d never been interested in settling down.
Until he met her.
Theo Young was single and free. And he repeated single.
Eva Moreno—sports blogger, journalist, and new addition to the team’s on-camera crew—had always been a thorn in his side. She was smart. She was talented. She was extremely good at her job—a job that seemed to revolve around chronicling his “exploits.”
So, all that smart and talented (and it had to be said, beautiful) pointed in his direction wasn’t a good thing.
Because she wasn’t just a thorn in his side.
She was a woman who made him think of forever.

Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Trope: enemies to lovers
Angst: 😱😱😱😱
Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥

Eva Moreno is struggling - which is ironic because she's also living the life she's always dreamed of. Eva is the newest edition to a NHL on-camera crew, doing the things she loves as a sports blogger and journalist. Eva's personal life is a mess. Abandoned by her father, emotionally beaten down and taken advantage of by her dead beat mom, raising her siblings, she's barely scraping by financially. The last thing she needs is Theo Young, tormentor turned one night stand, giving her more crap on her ever increasing pile. But Eva and Theo have more in common than they think they do, more in common than just their attraction. Maybe they can both teach the other how to .... Breathe.

UGHHH!! This was such a fabulous story. I've really enjoyed this series by Elise Faber and she didn't let us down this time around, either. Well written, with an interesting storyline, and characters you can't help but fall in love with. Elise obviously knows hockey and writes it well. The banter between these two was spot on and it just added to their chemistry. They had a ton of family related trauma they had to work through, but it wonderful how they both grew and it made them closer with each other. I love how their isn't drama for the sake of drama, but life's road bumps that they learn how to work through because they both care about the other. This couple and their story will leave you with a huge smile on your face and in your heart.

In Breathe, we again meet Theo and Eva. wasn’t sure if I was going to like Theo by the end of this book. There were so many biases based on his history that it was hard to trust that he was going to be able to let Eve in. Eve is stuggling to survive in many ways. Her father passed away years ago, and her mother is terrible. So she does what she can to help out her siblings. Even when those choices aren’t making her happy, but she feels as though she has no choice.

Elise Faber is never one to steer clear of some of the harder topics. Breathe is no exception.
Theo is more than meets the eye. He is extremely protective of his family, and even with the hang-ups on his past. Once he decides that Eve is a sure thing for him, he moves forward without thought. Faber’s heroes might sometimes hold back but once they are in… they are ALL in.

Eva’s character you feel for her. You know there is more going on in her life as you learn about her, but Faber teases you into is slowly. These Breaker books show how connected this found family truly is. But also that they are open and willing to do anything for the people they hold close.

These stories standalone and you can jump around from book to book without issue. However, you get little snippets and Easter Eggs of the other couples in these books.

BREATHE is the seventh book in the Breakers Hockey series and this time it's Theo's turn. He's the playboy of the team, never wanting to settle down. And he has had some major issues with Eva from the very beginning. We now find out why.

Eva and Theo are similar in many ways, and both of them hide their hurt behind walls a mile high. It's only after they've sniped and snarled at each for a while that they begin to realise there might be more between them than just snark. This was a great story showing just how badly family can hurt and also heal.

I thoroughly enjoyed the story and its arc, as it moved from enemies, to friends, and then to lovers. Eva and Theo are protective of each other, which I loved. Walker and Dommie have a bit of a sneak story in here. I'm hoping they get to tell their story in full. The pacing is perfect and the little signs of affection - Theo and Eva's love language - is dotted throughout, making this a wonderful read with plenty of emotions.

A great addition to the series and definitely recommended by me.

Learning to love!

Theo thought that due to his childhood he'd never settle or marry but the attraction he feels for Eva is something fierce. Their interactions are often heated and the blogs Eva writes are often scathing retorts about Theo. After accidentally hurting Eva, Theo looks after her and the chemistry kicks up a notch. Eva is also struggling with a childhood that still pulls at her and weighs in the actions she takes to help her family. Can they be something different than what they grew up with? When secrets come out will they support each other or let it tear them apart?
I loved this read, the characters are strong willed and clash but that only makes the chemistry sizzle. The issues in their lives only make them more loveable and deserving of the HEA they get.

I've had beef with Theo ever since he jelled at Eva at the end of the previous book. He didn't score any additional brownie points with me with how he acted at the beginning of this story.

But as he comes to his senses and truth comes out why he hates reporters, i found sympathy for him and was rooting pretty hard for him to get the girl.

Eva is a woman of my own heart. She has a lot ridding on her shoulders and she's doing everything and anything she can think off in order to help her mother and siblings. Getting involved with Theo is not a good idea, but the chemistry is to hard to ignore and when he showes her who he truly is behind his high walls, falling for him is the logical step.

Together they have to navigate through ups and down in order to get to HEA. And wgen they found it, i was left with a huge smile on my face, knowing that they can finally find peace in each other's arms.

Universal

Theo and Eva have gotten on each other's nerves as long as they've known each other. But really, for him to tell her she "can go now" right after they indulge in their antagonistic chemistry, is beyond his usual asshole behavior. But why can't he get her out of his mind after having so abruptly kicked her out? Is it possible for this pair to get past their disdain and evolve into something more than enemies?

2 people with more parental issues would be hard to find than Eva and Theo. Eva's parents did her so wrong, especially her mom, that she had spent her life caring for her siblings, and keeping her heart closed. And then there's Theo. Whew. That man has daddy issues galore. It makes sense that though they had contempt for each other, they were also drawn to each other, emotionally and physically. I love how much they grew and developed, and learned to trust each other, and to love each other and themselves. Elise never fails to give the reader well-drawn, complex characters and stories with heart and intense chemistry, and Eva and Theo are no exception. Now I'm anxiously waiting for the next Breaker to fall in love.

Breathe is the 7th installment of the Breakers, and like Elise Faber’s original hockey series the Gold, features an organization that is one big family, from the team and the entire staff, including the sports blogger newly hired for some commentary. Which of course is a joy both in shipping the forming couples, guessing who might be next to couple up, and seeing the happy couples feature in the love stories that follow theirs. This series is perfect for readers who are already fans of Elise’s work—whether or not they’ve read this series, or the Gold hockey, or the Rush hockey series before—as well as for readers who love Natasha Madison’s big hockey univers, Helena Hunting’s Pucked/All In world, and Teagan Hunter’s Carolina Comets. All of which feature hockey hotties with big families that keep getting bigger as they pull more people into their circles.
Theo and Eva’s stories has been enemies to lovers, in the background of a couple of the Breakers books already, so tensions are high to start in Breathe. He had one chance to smooth things over, and then a second to mend fences, and he blew them by being a supreme ass. Because Eva Moreno is everything he doesn’t want, starting with the kind of woman who wants to settle down. Something Theo’s never really considered before. Especially with a journalist who seems to revel in making headlines of his mistakes. Whereas Eva has always been the caretaker in her family, and once Theo gets his head on straight and comes to terms with the draw Eva has for him, she doesn’t know what to do with someone who wants to take care of her. Which continues to leave them somewhat at odds even once they’re largely past the enemies stage of their enemies to lovers romance. Odds heightened by secrets on both sides, all secrets with the potential to break apart what they’ve been building, if not dealt with carefully.
I couldn’t put Breathe down once I started, with the rollercoaster up and downs in Theo and Eva’s story. And the set up for Blazed, which will feature Walker and Dommie has already hooked me. I’m always left wanting more in the best way after reading one of Elise’s books, especially her hockey novels, but I’m ready for Blazed RIGHT NOW after Breathe, because I just inhaled it! Definitely going to have to re-read the Breakers from the beginning to hold on to my willpower until December! Readers will absolutely want to read this in as few sittings as possible.

Wtf this book was trash

A. They had the most random f-ing trauma that was just constantly being created, revealed and dumped onto the Fl and Ml.
1. The SA and stalker that was randomly thrown in at the end for absolutely no reason and was never resolved
i. They don’t actually look at any of the actual impacts and long mental effect that this can have on someone and just use it as an excuse for the couple to move in together…
2. The fucking 10 families shit
3. The dead dad (who was apparently shitty to the Fl growing up) and seriously ill mother who constantly calls the Fl stupid, who she has to completely look after, as well as her 3 other siblings?

B. The shitty writing (it reads like a 10 year old’s wattpad story)
Example
1. “I guess it’s a good thing I know your T-shirt size, Squishy.”
2. “What do you think?” He asked softly. She just… blinked. Again. The shirt still said Wifey” (like wtf)
3. “It’s for you, sweetheart.” Pressies! She loved pressies. - btw this is a grown ass woman who is talking about getting a present
(Ps this was all found within two pages of the epilogue, and that’s not even the worst of them. This is all just to give you an idea of the monstrosity that spanned over like 300 pages)

C. The weird fucking nicknames
Some include…
- Air (for some unknown reason)
- Stubbs
- Squishy
- Wifey
- he keeps calling her “his woman”

D. The weird Only Fans cake subplot that was so random and specific.

E. How they literally go from hating each other to literally thinking omg I love this person after a single day and a changed tire, no way.

There are way more issues with this book that I could go on forever ranting about, but honestly this book isn’t worth the time and brain power.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

Breathe is the seventh book set within the Breakers Hockey series, but could be read as a stand alone. Eva thought she had finally broken through a barrier with Theo when he ices her out again. She’s hesitant to let him close with her life spiraling out of control, but will Theo finally realize how good they can be together, or will they both let their insecurities push the other away?

Oh man! This book was so good! I knew it was going to end in a happily ever after, and it definitely does, but I was so worried about Eva and Theo and what their ending would actually look like! But all of their ups and downs, twists and hardships are completely worth it in the end. This book made me cry and giggle and swoon, and I loved every second I spent within this book. Eva is dependable, always working to make her family happy, doing anything she can to make ends meet. She has this underlying vulnerability, though, that made her sweet and attentive and made me want to hug her so she could just breathe. Hehe, see what I did there? Theo hasn’t had a charmed life, but he’s always had his mom’s support. He has a crazy backstory that made him super hesitant to liking Eva, but oh man, once his heart opens up just a little bit, he was a fantastic man that you couldn’t help but liking and cheering for. I loved them together. They were passionate and steamy, but I really enjoyed the ways they helped lift the other up. In times where they were in their own head, the other could come and help. It was beautiful. I loved this book. I love just about any book that Ms. Faber writes and I am already looking forward to the next one!

While I've loved many of Elise Faber's past books (and I'm sure will love many of her future ones), "Breathe" was not among my favorites. I think part of the problem is that I've only read one of the previous books in the Breakers Hockey series, and much of the groundwork for hockey blogger Eva Moreno and professional hockey player Theo Young's enemies-to-lovers romance was laid in those earlier stories. I wish there had been a prequel or flashback included in this book to remind readers of the key events that had taken place between them in the past, particularly the incident in which Theo apparently embarrassed Eva in front of some of his teammates and their significant others. That would have provided needed context for the animosity between them and helped quite a bit with the relationship development, which IMO was overall a bit lacking. To me, it seemed like they just flipped a switch and went from hating each other one minute to being "in love" the next, which was tough to believe given how genuinely nasty Theo was to Eva at times.

The character development also seemed to be a bit lacking. For example, on several occasions it was mentioned that Theo had "all those fancy degrees" (possibly in science?), and I really wanted to know more about them. What degrees did he have, and how did he find time to pursue them while also playing professional hockey? I think knowing more about Theo would have helped me like him more, which frankly was tough to do at times.

Despite my frustrations with certain aspects of the book, there were a number of things I really liked. For example, I loved how passionate Eva was about building her career as a color commentator. Sportscasting isn't an easy industry to break into, especially for a woman. Given her family commitments, she easily could have given up and taken a different job in a less competitive field, but she continued to follow her dreams until she finally achieved them.

Bottom line, I'd recommend "Breathe" for readers already familiar with the previous books in the Breakers Hockey series, but it may not be the best starting point for those who are new to Faber's work. I may revisit it (and revise my review) after reading some of the earlier stories.

"Another outstanding book in this series which if I didn’t have to adult I would have read in one sitting. I loved everything about Theo & Eva’s story. Right from the start these two were at each other, and there I was rubbing my hands together in glee waiting to see what would happen next.
But as the barbs continued to fly, there was also the slow realization from both of them that they actually were good together.
There is so much going on in regards to both of their families, and it honestly made them even closer as the story progresses. I did also enjoy the lack of unnecessary drama between them, it wasn’t all sunshine and roses, but any hiccups were dealt with realistically.
Thankfully there is at least one more book to come and I cannot wait to get my hands on that book as well" ~Sharon

"I love a good enemies to lovers, Theo and Eva hit the nail on the head in this book. These two were oil and water right front the start, I couldn’t wait until the finally figured it all out.

The back and forth banter, the one liners and barbs, led to some combustable chemistry, that might just melt your kindle. They have a bumpy start, with her family and Theo’s neither one can catch a break.

Will the secrets that may come to light destroy what they are building? Or will they see they need to just rely on one another, and tell the world to just go away? Another great addition to the Breaker’s family!" ~Stephanie

How can the man you're having angry sex with, who makes you see stars twice and when you're getting ready for round three, tells you "you can go now!"? This is what happened to Eva, a sports blogger, commentator and a pain in Theo Young's side, because she's always calling him out! Theo is another hotshot adonis from the Breakers hockey team in this book 7 of the series, and it is just as good as its predecessors.
Eva has a tough life. After her father dies, her mom, who was her best friend, becomes mean and demanding. She is ungrateful and in order to make sure her siblings have food and clothes and tuition for school, Eva is expected to sacrifice her life and happiness.
Theo, on the other hand has a wonderful mom, stepdad and sisters, but a nasty father, who is a huge embarrassment to him. After a series of unfortunate events, Theo and Eva break down some of the barriers between them, realizing that their family dynamics have left them damaged with trust and self worth issues. Can these two find the common threads that could bind them together?
I do love Ms. Faber's series and this book is no exception. I love how the protective Alpha male jumps from the page and even though the heroine is a strong woman, she can still feel protected. You know that once you're part of the Breakers Family - you're in! Bit like this series!

A read that grabbed my attention and emotions.

The first portion of the book has them battling each other and protecting themselves. Eva’s hurt when he gives her the boot moments after they both find release during a hook-up. The tension between them stays taunt and rife with physical attraction.

But since they have both suffered and sacrificed due poor choices by parents (Eva - both her parents and Theo - his father), Eva and Theo both have thick walls protecting them from getting hurt.
After Theo stops to help a stranded Eva, they both start to allow themselves to be more open to allowing a bond to grow between them.

Watching Eva and Theo both grow and develop is enjoyable and exciting. Progress is slow with a few steps back, but the end results are pretty spectacular. I love the sense of family the Breaker players and their significant others have formed. Seeing each new couple enveloped into the camaraderie is fantastic and allows us to see more of beloved characters from earlier books.

I received a free ARC from the author and 1852 Media; and I am voluntarily leaving an unbiased review.

Another opportunity to catch up with the Breakers Hockey players and this time we get to know Theo Young anf Eva Moreno. This was a book I was excited to read and as soon as it hit my kindle I jumped in. It’s a great addition to the series and if you love hockey romances it should certainly be on your TBR list.
Theo and Eva are not looking for love or a relationship but they have a common issue through their parents and that gives them a connection. Eva hasn’t had an easy life and she has a lot riding on her shoulders, she is doing everything she can to help her family so the last thing she needs is the attraction she feels for a hot hockey player…..
Theo hides behind the walls he has built to protect himself and it’s going to take a very special lady to break through so is Eva that lady and can these two navigate the bunny road ahead of them….
One click now to find out.
The chemistry is sizzling, the characters adorable and Breathe is an entertaining and captivating read that I highly recommend.

Leave it to Ms. Faber to give us an enemies-to-lovers story that is full of hate to love, banter that sees the 2 MCs treating it as foreplay and a storyline that is gripping. For two people, Eva and Theo, who are so different, they seem to have a few things in common. Both of them are dealing with family situations that have both of them hurting deep inside.
Eva is a sports reporter that has a hate relationship with Theo, one of the Breakers' hockey players. Whenever they are together, the anger that radiates off one another is impossible to ignore. The interactions that lead to the banter which led to their clothes spontaneously falling from their bodies were hot. There were secrets that were kept, hearts that were broken and love that was shared between the two of them. Theo ended up being swoon-worthy and the man that I thought was under his "I'm forever a bachelor" armour.
I absolutely loved this book and I highly recommend picking up Breathe.

Okay I loved this book but if I had been Eva and Theo had done me the way he did her in the first chapter I would have walked away and been done with him but I'm not Eva and let's face it Theo and Eva both have major hang ups because well there parents are awful Eva got twice as much trouble first her Dad then her mother now there's someone who never should raise kids. Poor Eva she's worked hard to keep her family together helping pick up the pieces when her parent check out even doing things that make her feel crummy. Then there's Theo he's got hang ups too his Mom and Stepdad have been good to him but his father super scumbag has given Theo some baggage made Theo think he's not boyfriend material but there attraction is too strong they have to work at things and growing as a couple and relizing things about themselves but they couldn't be more perfect for each other.

I was allowed to read and advance copy of this book and this is my honest review.

Eva is a woman who has always put others first and has a lot of responsibilities. She is working towards being a permanent color commentator for the Breakers games while promoting her sports blog. She and Theo are like oil and water and when they finally give in to the chemistry between them it didn’t end well and she can’t understand why walking away is such a challenge.

Due to his past Theo is single and determined to stay that way. The steamy encounter with Eva raised feelings in him that he didn’t want so his first instinct was to push her away however the more time they spend together the more difficult that becomes.

The chemistry between them is intense but it is the way they accept each other for who they are and support each other with what they are both going through that proves that they are meant for each other in every way.

Breathe, book seven in the Breakers Hockey series is a wonderful addition to this series. I loved reading this story as the main characters, Eva Moreno and Theo Young found their way towards one another. Neither we looking for a relationship but fate had other plans.
I didn’t like Theo much at the beginning but as Eva worked her magic and unraveled his layers it was easy to see that there was so much more to him than most see. Once Theo realized that he couldn’t fight the pull he had towards Eva he finally opened up and shared his secrets. She also had her own heartbreak and secrets from her past that affected how she reacted to situations. It was Theo’s strength and belief in her that allowed her to believe in herself and finally share her past.
These two had a journey with some ups and downs and I know you will enjoy it as much as I did.

How much do I love this book? Let me count the ways . . .
First, the first scene alone grabs you. How could Theo kick Eva out? It's that little (well big) mistake that changes his life completely. Especially because he can't stop thinking of her. And he's so angry when she writes a blog about his philandering ways. Theo is a jerk, but his redemption is worth the read alone.
Second reason I loved this book is the back story. Elise Faber loves to give you a dramatic backstory of her characters. Sometimes they are funny. Sometimes they are deeply emotional. And this time I felt like she got it just right. Theo and his father issues (well he has a wonderful step-father, so it's just that sperm donor of his). And Eva and her mother issues. Which leads to my number three love.
Eva is an amazing character. She shows up briefly in the previous book, but you grow to love what she has accomplished to help her family. She is written in a way that doesn't make you feel sorry for her, more like you empathize with what she's been through.
And finally I loved the romance between Theo and Eva. Their sweet kisses and steamy bedroom scenes show that Elise Faber is the queen of opposites attract and enemies to lovers romance.
If I could give this story 6 stars I would!!!

This is the seventh book in this incredible series, and this is Theo and Eva’s journey. Theo is the bad boy playboy in the team, and has no intensions of ever settling down, and Eva is a sports blogger, journalist, and on the new team on-camera crew. The sparks fly between these two, but Theo feels unworthy on her, and is nasty and pushes her away, until he goes to far. This is a well written story which is an enemies / friends / lover’s romance, with humor, witty and sarcastic banter, emotions, undeniable chemistry, and love, which leads to an entertaining, unpredictable, and steamy addictive page turner.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

Theo Young, a Hockey player at the top of his game, that lives his life avoiding lasting connections, for fear of his past. Eva Moreno, lives her life in the media spotlight as a sports blogger. She reports on how the Breakers players games. He favorite player? Theo Young. Yes, both on the ice and off the ice she craves him and hates every minute of said craving, after all he has embarrassed her repeatedly. It isn’t like she was embellishing when she criticized his game play.
Connections and revelations are made some that are self healing and others that could be their demise. They both have demons they have to overcome inorder to become stronger together.
This is a sexy and suspenseful read that gives us tons of the vest sport~ HOCKEY!

Eva's having a rough time, since her father died she's been supporting her sister, two brothers and her mother, who has become bitter and twisted since her husband died. She has heart problems but isn't careful with either her diet or medication. Eva is providing financial support to the whole family.
Theo plays hockey for the Breakers. After the fiasco with his father, he doesn't want to settle down, so he's particularly nasty to Eva, as she seems to be getting under his skin.
Eva has been doing things she doesn't want to for the money. Will Theo accept that, or will it be a deal breaker?

As usual from Elise, a great read.

While Breathe is the 7th story in the Breakers Hockey series, it is just as wonderful and engaging as the other stories!

Theo and Eva’s relationship starts off rather bumpy, especially with Theo’s thoughtless comments. Although they’d like to deny it, the attraction between them is definitely there.

As with other characters’ stories in this series, both have their own issues…and for Theo and Eva, it’s what influences their attitude towards one another. (Being vague to avoid spoilers). When they decide to face those issues though? Nothing will stand in the way of them being together!

Enjoyable story with just the right amount of drama!

Theo’s happy being single. Well, maybe not deliriously happy but content with his single life. Until he meets beautiful, outspoken Eva Moreno! She’s a hockey blogger and a part time commentator for his NHL team, the Breakers. And she soon becomes his nemesis! She’s always holding his feet to the fire for how he plays on any given night! But, man she’s beautiful and sexy and smart! Okay maybe he just wants her!
As he and Eva become closer they learn about their family histories, and soon they are both falling hard!
But there are secrets being kept! Can they make it together?
Another great Breakers Hockey Story by Elise Faber!

Another great addition to the Breaker’s family!

Breakers Hockey #7

Theo Young is a professional hockey player for the Breakers. Settling down is not something he's interested in.

Eva Moreno is the oldest sibling and feels she has to take care of everybody in the family. She works hard even doing a job she hates to do but she needs the money. She loves her job as a sports blogger/journalist and is very talented and good at this job.

She has reamed Theo on several accounts which is a thorn in his side. But they have a chemistry that's off the charts but he's his usual jerk self and tells her to leave after having sex which only makes it worse.
But once isn't enough. Can they get past all the drama?

Breathe, book seven in the Breakers Hockey series follows Theo Young and Eva Moreno, a sports blogger and journalist who works with the camera crew. She was smart, and good at her job, but every time Theo made a mistake, there she was writing about it. Eva is everything he doesn’t want, the main thing being that she wants to settle down where Theo wants to stay single. But the more they take shots at each other, the more they realize that there might just be something between them after all. As Theo accidentally hurts Eva, he takes care of her and the chemistry begins to sizzle. Will Theo and Eva be able to move forward together? Or will their pasts weigh them down and keep them apart?

Another fantastic book in the Breakers Hockey series! Once I started I couldn’t put it down! Theo and Eva have clashed from the start. Throwing barbs at each other constantly. During this they slowly realize their feelings start to change! They both have parent problems that they have to deal with. This brings them closer. Will these problems bring them closer or tear them apart? It was a fun ride watch their journey to their relationship. I loved it! I can’t wait for the next book in the Breakers Hockey series!

Another hit!!
I have been waiting to see what happens with Theo and Eva, from the snippets from previous players' stories. This is definitely an enemies to lovers' story. Elise's books always touch the heart strings, and things always end exactly how you want them to. Theo and Eva have tons of chemistry, and I loved watching them come together. I always enjoy seeing previous characters, and I am looking forward to the next in the series!!!

I received an ARC of this book, all of the opinions and thoughts are my own.
