What Does It Really Mean to Be a Woman of Faith?
Does it mean never doubting or questioning God? Having your act together at all times? Is it being a legendary “prayer warrior” or knowing the right Bible verse for any situation?

In this inspiring Bible study, bestselling Bible teacher Cynthia Heald offers a much more realistic perspective for today’s Christian woman. You’ll see yourself in Cynthia’s personal struggles to walk in faith and trust, and you will learn and grow from her special insights from God’s Word.

“My study of this topic has changed me, renewed me, and encouraged me to keep growing in my faith and to keep walking by faith,” Cynthia states. In these pages, she shares the results of her study with the sincere prayer that you, too, will be changed, renewed, and encouraged in your walk with God.

great book. I loved the bible study set up for each chapter. it would work as a private study, but could also be done as a group study chapter by chapter.

What does it mean to be a woman of faith? Is it not doubting God or having your act together all the time? Does it mean never being afraid even when you are facing some of life's deepest and darkest trials?

Cynthia Heald explores this topic in Becoming a woman of Faith in such a sincere and applicable way that you won't want to put it down after just one lesson.

This was my first book/Bible study by Cynthia that I have had the privilege of enjoying and learning from. It is broken into 11 simple to work through, yet deep and thought-provoking, chapters. I found that understanding what faith is and how God is faithful to us was the first step in growing in my own faith. I really appreciated her approach in this study and the mix of scripture with personal application and examples along with the focus on changing through memorizing the Word of God in our own hearts. It is an elegant study that is simple to use and gives some deep thoughts to think about.

True faith will undergird your decisions and actions; it will shield you from the enemy; it will empower your prayers; and it will enable you to withstand testing, temptations – and even your doubts.

“He has called us into fellowship with Himself; He has owned us as His possession and has assumed the responsibility for our control and He will not lay it aside. What He has begun in us He will continue. His work in us does not depend upon our love for Him but on His love for us: not faith in our faith but faith in His faithfulness is what He wants from us.” – Ruth Paxson

“Five times God emphasized to us that He will not forsake us. He wants us to firmly grasp the truth that whatever circumstances may indicate, we must believe, on the basis of His promise, that He has not forsaken us or left us to the mercy of those circumstances.”- Jerry Bridges

“Man fails in all points, but God in none. To be faithful is one of the eternal characteristics of God, in which he always places a great part of his glory: his truth is one of his peculiar treasures and crown jewels, and he will never endure that it should be tarnished in any degree.” – Charles Spurgeon

“A doubting temper, fond of dwelling on difficulties and objections, is fatal to the unity of mind, heart, and will. Doubts, if they assail you, are neither to be timidly shrunk from nor idly played with, but honestly faced and fought. But the grand secret of conviction is to dwell first and constantly on the positive evidence of truth. If that is adequate, unanswerable, then a thousand questions we cannot at present answer need not trouble us. They can wait, but facts will not wait. Here is a great secret, not only of strength but of rest. And in rest is a reservoir of energy.” – E.R. Conder and W. Clarkson

“David’s contest with Goliath will only be apprehended in its true light if the latter be regarded as a representative of the world, and David the representative of the Church.” – E.W. Hengstenberg

A test is usually given to find out what we know. From a biblical perspective, a test is given to find out what we believe. Tests in school are often stressful, and so is in life. Trials, tests, and temptations are difficult but necessary tools in the hands of God to strengthen and prove our faith.

“Temptation is to faith as fire is to gold. The fire not only reveals which is true gold but makes the true gold purer…Faith before temptation has much extraneous stuff that clings to it and passes for faith; but when temptation comes, the dross is discovered and consumed by the fiery trial…And here is all the devil gets: Instead of destroying the saint’s faith, he is the means of refining it, thereby making it stronger and more precious.” – William Gurnall

“Faith by its very nature must be tried, and the real trial of faith is not that we find it difficult to trust God, but that God’s character has to be cleared in our own minds…Faith in the Bible is faith in God against everything that contradicts Him – I will remain true to God’s character whatever He may do. ‘Though He slays me, yet will I trust Him’ – this is the most sublime utterance of faith in the whole of the Bible.” – Oswald Chambers

“But I will tell you where that faith will be born, and grow big and lusty – in the heart of everyone who goes off quietly every day into the quiet place with the Book and bent knee and the bent will. Into that heart, there will come the quiet assurance that what you are asking He is doing.” – S.D. Gordon, Five Laws That Govern Prayer

“In times of suffering, then, pursue your course “looking unto Jesus,” the perfect example of patience; and in the presence of Gethsemane and Calvary your sufferings will appear slight, and the calm face of the supreme Sufferer will impart patience and power unto you. In seasons of despondency, when faith is weak and your spirit sinks within you, look unto Jesus, and the trust which he exercised and the destiny he attained, and let the bright example brace your heart with courage. In times of exhaustion and weariness, when you faint because of the duties and difficulties of the way, look up to Jesus and his example will raise and strengthen your powerless hands, and nerve your whole frame with new energy. And in seasons of temptation look unto him who “resisted unto blood, striving against sin,” and yield not in the conflict, give no place to the tempter. Let this be our attitude, “looking unto Jesus.” Let the eyes of the soul be fixed upon him as our Pattern and Helper; so shall we finish our course with joy, and “receive the crown of glory that fadeth not away.” – W. Jones

This is the 3rd study I have done in her "Becoming a Woman of..." series. I enjoyed this as much as the other two (although "Becoming a Woman Whose God is Enough is my absolute favorite). It took me as long as it did because I spent time working on the scripture memorization and had to put the study aside after each chapter to spend time on that week's verse(s).

Beautifully wriitened

I read this book just in time for what I was going through. It was definitely a great tool that helped me trust God and free myself of the destruction that comes from depending on self and worldly opinions. Such a great read.

A pretty good refresher course on the Biblical meaning of faith! Heavily dependent on Scripture reading and scattered with quotes from classic teachers of the faith. Not terribly shallow like a lot of women’s devotionals I’ve read, but not too heavy either. Definitely recommend for new believers or those who need a refresher course on the topic.

Becoming a Woman of Faith" is an impressive look at developing a faith based life in Jesus Christ. Perfect for a "quick" bible study or for short bible study groups, Becoming a Woman of Faith" provides a look at what it means to be a follower of Christ beyond just knowing the right scripture to use.

Filled with personal ancedotes from the author and plenty of space for personal reflections, I enjoyed readingBecoming a Woman of Faith" and like the fact that this is perfect for going on vacations or trips and still being able to have a bible study to work on without concern of losing pace.

Ms. Heald provides notable quotes from noted individuals as A.W. Tozer, while in between it all, really having the individual deal into topics of what is having faith and how to use personal struggles to grow one's faith.

Something that came to mind as well as I read throughBecoming a Woman of Faith" was the fact that Becoming a Woman of Faith" makes a great gift idea as well, for new or even Christians who might have fallen off their walk and help them learn the basic of building a strong faith based in and through our Heavenly Father.

Well written, easy to carry in a purse or tote back, Becoming a Woman of Faith" , I highly recommend this for moms on the go and looking for bible studies that are accomodating for a busy schedule, for women to take on trips or just for a gift.
