passable biog of william morris, gives you a pretty good idea of what he was doing and saying at any given time. doesn't really provide much deeper insight though.
I read this in entirety for a research paper on William Morris. I think Henderson does a good job of making Morris seem like a real person instead of some stuffed shirt from history. Henderson makes ample use of primary source materials such as letters, and includes excerpts in his book. I think this biography is less focused on Morris's art or politics and instead really tries to get at what made the man tick.
For me, it was more readable than Thompson's biography of Morris, which goes into more detail on the political aspects of Morris's life, but I think these two books are complementary and show the complexity of Morris quite well.
