Can a royal bachelor and a meddlesome matchmaker ignore their attraction while stranded—with killers?
Prince Lazlo knew he'd been tricked when he wound up stranded on a remote island with a nosy "marriage consultant" who'd been hired to find him the perfect princess bride. And the worst part was, she was the one woman he'd tried— and failed!—to seduce, claiming she never fell for a client. But the squabbling stopped once Lazlo realized they weren't alone, and in order to elude the desperate killers stalking them, they had to work as a team. Imminent danger had a surprising upside, he discovered. Out of her element, Milda let down her hair and her guard. Now if only she'd break her number one matchmaking rule….

Playboy Prince Lazlo of Valtria is expecting to spend several days hunting and camping with his brothers -- instead, he's ambushed by matchmaker Milda, who's planned a camping trip for him and three royal ladies. Instead, the ladies, angry at Lazlo's overheard insults, drive off in the speedboat, leaving Lazlo and Milda stranded on a deserted island -- until three escaped prisoners with a grudge against the royal family arrive on the island.
For a 10-year-old category romance, this book is actually quite good. The characters are interesting, and their motivations and insecurities are realistic. The plot moves along at a good and steady pace, with a nice balance of romance and suspense. The villains are one-dimensional, but that might be different if I'd read the rest of the Defending the Crown series. All in all, a good, solid book.
Milda Milas is a marriage counselor with a mission, helping unwilling prince Lazlo to be married at his mothers wishes. She lures him to an uninhabited island for a survival expedition with three perfect marriage candidates. But they are not alone on the island, three murderous escaped convicts are also seeking shelter and very quickly the first body will be found.
This is a very short story, but it still took me quite a while to finish this. The male hero (Lazlo) is an arrogant asshole, but the author cannot seem to stop rambling on about how awesome he is. There s an adventurous story to this, but it's snowed under by two boring, uninspired lead characters. There seem to be two previous books, I didn't read those and I don't think they're important to this story.
This felt like a longer book than it actually was; so much happened even though it was barely over 200 pages! And I truly felt the connection between the two main characters, even though their interactions were only shown over a few days.
I didn’t love either Lazlo or Milda at first, but they both really grew on me. Their character development between them was really nice to read about, and their interactions were great.
This is the only book in the series I’ve read, but I adored reading about the other brothers & am glad they each get their own book! This was an interesting read & I would recommend it!
No dull moments. Thrilling, breathtaking, nerve-wrecking and it made my "heart sing". I really like the combination of a careless prince and desperate matchmaker. Nice ending, though I thought it would be something....more. I love the kneeling and the velvet box with the pink diamond ring. Gaaaaahd! I love Lazlo :p
A fun read despite murderous circumstances. Stranded on an almost deserted island by vindictive bride-candidates, the prince and the matchmaker, correction, the marital consultant face threat from escaped convicts. They still manage to fall in love despite the dead bodies piling up.
Dana Marton knows how to write a good, tense action scene--and this book is full of them. Great pacing. Smart heroine. Hot hero. What's not to love? A very enjoyable read. (I just wish we could read about all the Kerkay brothers :(
