He hadn't pursued her years ago because she'd been too young and achingly innocent--and then his brother had claimed Kylie for his own. Kylie's failing marriage had ended with her unfaithful husband's death. Now she was left only with bittersweet memories, an empty bank account and a baby on the way. Brock's homecoming had her thinking back to the kiss they'd once shared. And had her wondering about what could have been... .

This was a pretty good read til the end. The end was super rushed. It was like the author realized the page count and went oh crap I gotta wrap this up now. I mean the hero was so standoffish for 98% of the book and then bam total 180. The rush of the ending made it feel forced and fake and took away from the story.
The backstory in this story is heartbreaking, Brock is a awesome hero... Kylie a well deserving heroine...a 7 month pregnant one.
Brock is the "half breed" son of his father.... Jake.... who by all accounts is a hateful man.... he treated his oldest son like a unwanted step child while using all his love for his younger "lookalike...blonde hair blue eyed prince of a child"
Kylie has been in a accident after her 15 year old truck has a issue.... Brock has not been back home since his fathers death... he did not make it home for his younger brothers funeral as he was out of country and did not find out until it was over.
There is history with Brock and Kylie.... there is as I said before child abuse, there is infidelity.... there is a hateful whore, there is a LOT of love and caring and a HEA....
A beautiful romance. The hero was a stubborn man but eventually he came around. The heroine went through a lot of pain, deceit and heartbreak but eventually got her happy ending. It was almost perfect and for once I certainly can't complain about the ending.
A slog. Just dragging out the story. I felt bad for the heroine but she just kinda shrugged at everything that happened to and around her. Girl, let’s get some drive to get the life you want. Hero is pretty boring and very noncommittal. Skip it.
