They're the stuff of legend but also the focus of serious theological study! From the beginning of recorded history, people of all cultures have turned to angels for guidance, comfort, and inspiration. Here is an inspirational guide to the history, nature, and power of angels, and a summary of the roles they have played in the world's enduring religions. The attributes and qualities of approximately 50 angels are described, including archangels cited in the Jewish and Christian Bibles, as well as the planetary and zodiac angels. They Michael, conqueror of Satan as described in Genesis ... Gabriel, the angel in the New Testament who heralded the birth of Jesus ... Raphael, an angel of grace, also known as the Angel of Dawn ... Armisael, an angel of birth and death ... Zadkiel, a planetary angel and patron of lawyers ... and many others. Subsequent chapters describe guardian angels and prayers for summoning them, as well as assisting angels, angels of birth, death, grace, mercy, healing, and angels of the world. This volume offers a bonus in the form of six sealed pages containing rituals that readers can perform. They are intended to summon angels for important occasions, or for assistance at times of urgent need. The book features more than 150 beautiful, full-color illustrations.

A lovely informative book about angels, how to contact them and angelology. Great for an introduction to subject but also for anyone more experienced as this book contains information I haven't found in any of the many books I've read on the subject.
It also contains lovely illustrations which make it feel rather special 👼.

(Caveat: I read this ages ago -- probably one-and-a-half decade. But obvs I remember enough about it -- and more so, about other things -- to have written this review.)

Why this book?

From an entertainment point of view ( The Prophecy , Constantine , Legion , etc.) as well as from a socio-historic / cultural vantage point and a general interest in religions vs. faith, I have long been interested in the concept of angelic beings as heralds and harbingers of higher powers -- mysterious and powerful; but also, ever only servants.

Preliminary considerations:

Of special interest to me, personally, are the tragic -- or independant -- half-angels (or 'Watchers'; e.g., Fields Of The Nephilim; the Book Of Enoch that I'm still to read; and the excellent film Noah by Aronovsky), depicted in a myriad of different forms across the ages. I didn't expect them to be featured in this book.
But I expected a whole lot more from it, as well. A more historically inclined perspective, for instance. (Had I researched my purchase better, I may have refrained from making it. The product is not mislabeled.)

I bought this book cheaply, so I'm not complaining; but it's written from a very esoteric POV, and has much more to do with new age mysticism and magic, than with metaphysical beings related to ancient religion.

I may have first learnt from it about the various angelic hosts -- cherubim (not chubby children!), seraphim, and the lot -- and their actual hierarchic order (archangels supposedly are not the chief heavenly wingmen). Admittedly, that was a real eye-opener; but it was nothing that I couldn't have gleaned from other reference materials that I later acquired, which draw much more from meta-canonical scripture (e.g., Emanuel Swedenborg; Milton) to research angelic lore and its influence on society or individuals.

Also, the layout -- illustrated with many colourful graphics -- is diverse, but in a chaotic and cheap-feeling way. Not at all like another Librero publication I had the fortune of buying.

Final verdict & conclusions:

If new age spirituality in the guise of angelic guidance -- and the accompanying rituals, astrology, minerals and objects -- are your province, then by all means, do get this tiny tome. (No sarcasm intended!) You'll find it appealing or even useful.

For those others -- who, like me, awaken Straight To The Light ; and consume Ascension for a lullaby -- here's yet another (low-res) still image from Darren's sublime vision:

The 'Watcher' nephilim as depicted in Aronovsky's film Noah.

May it console you; and blessed be.

A reverential look at heavenly angels. Conceived as mediators between Heaven and Earth and found in Jewish, Christian, and Islamic lore, angels offer guidance, comfort, and inspiration. Drawing on both traditional and mystical lore, the author presents a guide to the history and power of various angels.

The text builds on introductory and background information to provide readers with a well-rounded look at these heavenly beings. Sections include Angels Origins and Hierarchy, Assisting Angels, and Rituals. Both a glossary and index are included and lavish, full-color illustrations accompany the text.

Addig olvastam amíg Esztire vártam ilyen olyan dolgok miatt.
Nem az enyém Eszti anyáé a könyv.
New age-es bullshit angyal mágia tök következetlenül összemos több nagyobb vallást.

Very interesting to read about so many Angels and their specific powers and how to call them.
