Janel Laidman likes hats. She likes them so much, in fact, that she has worn quite a few, sometimes simultaneously. Right now she is wearing her author hat. Janel used to be a biochemist but now she is an entrepreneur, soup chef, knitwear designer and overwhelmed gardener living in the semi-wilds of Oregon. Many intriguing sock/slipper patterns here!

While some of them have various sizes, many do not. Also, the yarn recommendations do not specify an approximate weight of the yarn used- OK, I can figure it out, but a hint that we're looking for a worsted or a fingering would help, especially if one has a stash. For these reasons, I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars.

Still, these look like socks that will be both fun to knit and practical! I look forward to trying several of the designs.

I'd recommend this only for intermediate and expert knitters, but the projects look relatively quick and/or fun to make.

I loved going through this book, looking at the various patterns, and earmarking which ones I wanted to do first. I might not do all of them, but it doesn't keep me from imagining what yarn from my stash would look like. I've already made the 'Tristan & Isolde' pair and am chomping at the bit to make 'Mirror Mirror', as soon as I find the right colors. A nice book for just browsing or finding something just a little bit out of the ordinary.
