Nothing Can be as Crazy...

Rate this book
Nothing can be as Crazy...touches upon some interesting facets of the urban middle-class as it takes us through a tour of some fragments of Suresh's life. Suresh: the protagonist and the naive bank officer whom destiny makes sure to leave at crossroads! He has his own set of moral norms, and though he himself indulges in all sorts of unscrupulous activities, he gets very perplexed over the uninhibited behaviour of his female colleagues. His middle-class upbringing comes even in the way of his relationship with his batch-mate, Monalika, when she puts his typical middle-class attitude of 'having it and not eating it too' responsible for their break-up. What should one do when the whole system is corrupt: fight back and lose everything, or be quiet and fall in line just like everyone else? What are the bases for relationships and marital trust? How can we learn from hardships and turn them to our advantage?

I hope the author doesn't see this, because I admired his story about giving up a life as a banker to be a writer. Anyone can be a writer, but not everyone can be a writer worth reading! Sorry Ajay, but you fall into the second category.

The story is pedantic and boring, moving at turtle-speed sometimes and then hurdling decades at others. The ending/climax is just dumb.

The English was fluent English, but was obviously written by someone whose first language was not English and was never edited by a native speaker. There were just nuances that were not caught in the editing process.

The fine powers of observation of the author has helped bring to life a picture of the society he seems to have been familiar with, with astuteness of detail. In the author's experiences is a reflection of any one's personal happenings so typical that the novel gives the semblance of an autobiography.
A great maiden attempt!

Highly avoidable!!! Lack of a storyline, poor writing skills with a medley of Indianisms and a confused narrative.

This book starts as a mischievous thriller, unrelated to a serious subject like huge frauds in banks. It picks up later and points out the huge, devastating frauds, bungles which are happening, have happened in banking world.
Though the corruption mentioned in the banking sector is the tip of an iceberg,I would recommend it to be read by all.

The book starts with narrator emphasizing on writing about his escapades (a normal urban-middle class man) on how his life has gone through a SEA OF CHANGE. The title creates a hope of certain amount of excitement but the story miserably fail to live up to the expectation.

What we get to read is an ordinary adventure of a young middle class which barely generates any sort of excitement. He is surrounded by (and himself) wannabes who are trying to be supercool, there jokes are lame and their escapades are totally forgettable. You somehow manage to read further (with help of self-control). The other half is about his professional life and dilemma he faces including the inevitable office politics, you survive this part and expect the story to deliver more.

But when it comes to end, you really want to pull all hair from your head. You realize that nothing can be as crazy as reading this book. The ending seems to me that the author was desperately looking to get rid of the story and delivers something which was extremely ordinary to his readers. The book never generates any kind of interest and makes you regret your choice for reading this book. If possible please avoid this book.

To the author I would say that the theme of his book was promising but the narration could not match up to it. Let's hope in your next book you avoid such mistakes.

The book is not a piece of fiction but it feels like the author writes some paper in his diary and made up chapters of story. Though the story lacks substance, signs and twirls, it reminds me the initial Academy days in my current company. The new city, friends..Patch up.

Also the story needs to be exaggerated a bit.

It is a very poor attempt at writing. I wonder if the author was very inspired by Chetan Bhagat and felt that being associated with IIT and IIM gave him a moral responsibility to start writing. The story is poor, the language poorer. Give this one a miss.

I believe it is the writer's maiden attempt at writing and it is definitely worth praise!! He has a unique style of writing which is very easy to read for a non reader like me. Definitely worth a read!
Very easy and flowing language and a very simple plot. Highly recommended!!

A very interesting book. Worth reading…….You feel as if you are there…….The structure, narrative style, editing, graphic descriptions of locales etc. are excellent. One of the real highlights of the Novel is the narration and build up of situations…..Can’t drop it till you finish it!
