Chloe Simon wants a baby, but not by the usual methods. Due to an overbearing father and a couple of boyfriends who weren't in it for the long haul, she's through with relying on men. So this kindergarten teacher decides to get artificially inseminated by an anonymous donor of her choosing--someone with her family's "artistic gene" that passed her (but not her brother) by. But due to a foul up at the lab, what she gets is not a sperm sample from a kind, gentle, artistic sort, but rather a sample from a brown haired, green-eyed alpha military hunk, who was only banking his sample in case something happened to him while on the battlefield. But now Chloe's five months along, and Special Ops soldier Sgt. Dev Gallagher doesn't want his child to be born a bastard, and suggests he and Chloe go away together to his mountain cabin for a couple of weeks so they can iron out their differences regarding the whole situation. Will the fact that Chloe and Dev are wildly attracted to each other make things easier...or harder?
Hot, hot hot little fast paced read here, with some decent writing and a situation that's not all black and white--the author throws in a couple of curveballs that I didn't see coming. Some very steamy sex scenes too that made me think "hmm, we may have something here, I can see that this may evolve into love" since the characters seemed to get along outside of the bedroom too and definitely had a connection. This was heading towards a five star read until a couple of things sort of threw me off the track. *****SPOILER COMING******** The first was sort of an "icky" thing for me--most of the times when Dev made love to Chloe he referred to himself as "Daddy", which sort of icked me out. I'm hoping it was because he was all caught up in actually becoming a "Daddy" but I'm not so sure, because in a later scene he referred to Chloe as his "little girl"--yuk. That sort of doused the flames a bit for me in what were some really hot scenes.***** Another problem was something that Dev set up with one of his Army buddies to sort of test Chloe's loyalty to him (he was burned in the past by a cheating wife and a cheating fiancee). I didn't agree with it, and didn't like Chloe's response to "the test". So, because of these two blips on an otherwise hot little ebook, I had to adjust my rating. But not a bad effort by an author who I never read before--if I come across any other books by Sabine Ferruci I'll definitely give them a look. Just please, no more icky references during the love scenes please.:) 4 stars
