What Lies Between The Sheets

Rate this book
Everyone in the world has experienced the pain of losing a love they thought was theirs alone. Jamal Styles, a successful businessman, is left at the alter on his wedding day. Fueled by anger, jealousy, and fear, he vows to never love again. When he meets Sasha, the woman of his dreams, will he allow her to warm his cold heart, or will his deceptions and insecurities cost him the one thing he's been searching for his whole life? Loosely based on true events in the life of a former player, What Lies Between The Sheets is a heart-wrenching cautionary tale written especially for anyone who has ever lied to, cheated, hurt or lost the one they loved.

This book was a little Blah to me, it was just okay. Jamal a good guy who allowed a bad situation change him and hurt others in process. I honestly believe it was all the insecurities in Jamal that left me feeling empty throughout this book. I will say in the End there was a good point made.

BRIEF SUMMARY
For Jamal, life seems good. He has a good job and is about to get married. The day of his wedding he receives a runaway bride who ran to someone else. That day has left Jamal with different emotions on love and relationships. Then he meets Sasha, who is prefect for him but he needs to balance what's going on around him or he could lose everything.

THOUGHTS

I liked this story. It wasn't bad and it wasn't prefect. The reader is basically following Jamal's life as it is spiraling out of control. The moment Jamal is left at the alter was the defining moment where he changes his views on dating and women.

While I was reading some of Jamal's decisions, it got me so upset, but I understood it stems from hurt and what happen to him. On one hand he has his friend Eli telling him women were no go and he should treat them as such, and on the other, his friend Aaron is telling him slow down and just be yourself.

I liked Sasha a lot for Jamal and sometimes you don't appreciate what you have until it's gone. I got this message of the story but I selfishly wanted a different ending. Also, when the light bulb went off in his head towards the end, there were so many quotes leading to his epiphany. Nevertheless, it was a likeable story.

Storyline: GOOD
Intimacy: SWEET
Enjoyment: FAIR to GOOD

very insightful book about the thoughts and behavior of men with a comical twist free of the overtone of drama or drugs. I liked the way the author started and ended the book. The women in the story are all powerful in their own right and basically it is the bomb. Waiting to see what else the writer comes up with soon...i hope!

I am enjoying the book. It doesn't have all the ghetto speak found in most novels written by African American authors today. I can relate to some of the things Jamal goes through and his struggle to find his way.

I thought the story was ok, but the cover and title are extremely misleading. Both portray a very sexual story which this is definitely not. I think this story had a lot of potential, but it just really fell flat for me. Jamal was jilted at the alter and instead of wallowing in his self pity he turns into a what I would say is a fake player. He had one meaningful relationship with Sasha, the rest were just blips on the radar, and really didn't add anything to the story for me. The love scenes were just fair. From the cover and title I would have thought they would be super hot but they just weren't. The story is pretty slow and steady which is why I rated it 2 stars. I just couldn't get into it.

I enjoyed this book, formally entitled Everybody Plays A Fool For Love so much, I purchased the rights and edited it for clarity and readability.

This book gives a unique perspective on relationships in the modern black community, allowing to follow the lead character's journey to learning about himself through his interactions with the female characters of the book.

Following the writing trend started with Stripping Asjiah, the team was careful not glorify the negative stereotypes which take away from the integrity of the novel.

I look forward to your reviews.

The artwork on the book was well done and honestly that's what enticed me to read it. I felt like the story was under developed and some of the scenes needed a little more detail. I found myself reading and in some cases I wanted Jamal to react differently or maybe have the interaction between him and one of the girls play out in a more drastic way but it never happened and I felt a little let down.

This was an interesting story of how Jamal struggles to deal with the heartbreak of being left a the alter. It was enlightening to see how men struggle with their heart and disappointment. Jamal's life spins out of control and he finds himself coming full circle, this time he's the position of disrupting a happy union. I like the story it was very enlightening from the male perspective.
