I was given this book when a friend was cleaning out her bookshelf. As soon as I opened it I was captivated by the stunning photography. Then when I read the book I realized this is one of the most comprehensive books of food I have read! It is an homage to healthy food with a strong European influence. Another bonus is the basics of nutrition and food science, which is not often seen in American food books. This book makes an important contribution with its photographed step-by-step breakdown of the traditional processing of many great food products we take for granted, like cheese, wine and butchering.

In this day and age when there is so much misinformation on what constitutes healthy food and a healthy diet, this book shines a clear light on the path to good health and delicious food.
