This is an evocative picture book based on the beloved classic tale and retold for younger children. "The Wind in the Willows" is a re-telling of the beloved Kenneth Grahame story following the adventures of four riverside Mole, Ratty, Badger and, of course, the eponymous Mr Toad. It is evocatively illustrated by Mauro Evangelista, who also illustrated the Young Reading titles "Alice in Wonderland" and "The Wizard of Oz".

About the author

Lesley dreamed of being a writer, but studied law as her mother insisted she had "something to fall back on". Since joining Usborne Publishing, she has written and edited hundreds of books, from funny rhyming stories to an award-winning history book. Nowadays, she is often found recording books, too, in Usborne's very own recording studio.

I wasn’t sure how Wind in the Willows could be condensed into a picture book, but the story and characters were surprisingly well-captured - every word counts! The illustrations are great, and my kids LOVE this book... definitely requested several times a day, and Beatrice can recite it nearly word for word.

There was an mole who was calling for his brother in his cave then he got out of his cave then he start of his day he first splash! He splashed his feet to the river then he saw his friend mouse siting on a boat then the mole got on the boat then he saw a sea otour they were having fun but then they almost fail into the river then the mole got splash into the water then he jump out of the water then his friend mouse help him with an blanket the next day they rive to there friend frog then he had a map then they go to were it led them to in the way before they go frog was on the hours then a car crash into the hours and they can not go.

After the ruin of frog ,rat and mole rat was in his house chilling in the outside mole was waking to his tree when she was in his tree rat was going toward him then he said" Moly were are you its me rat then mole and rat went out of there home and went then the snow flake falls out of the sky when mole and rat went out to see badger. in his house they were having cooky and hot milk the next day they went to frogs house frog was about to ride his car but first they had a diner and frog was playing with the plate but then he was patent to be sick and rat was reading a book to him then when down to the window and start the engine and he rod away but he got gulty because he prtend to be sick and he was in the jail for a long then he escape and he was sleeping in the woods next day he swim to rat and they saw a army of a other rats then other tow join then they start to fight the other rats and they win then they had a dinner and the next day they walked away with ech other.

Simple yet effective. Good story and clever to get a message across about being sensible, not taking things for granted and just for looking out for friends. Quick read and easy picture book to follow, great for early reading. The typography goes very well with the language, highlighting key words.
